the FTW was $189 on amazon during black friday... that was jaw dropping.

A very good price. I've got one and it runs quite fine for my needs.

Even thou the z77 FTW board is starting to have a lot more positive reviews. I know the X79 board is having a harder time with their BIOS compared to the z77 board. But hey I think the BIOS on the z77 platform is good with my setup.

I get those emails from the egg and when I saw that I had to inform my EVGA brother/sisters

I took the chance with the x79 FTW when it was on sale and I couldn't be happier for the price.

I'm sure its a combination of a few things... but I don't think bad press is one of them.
 
My guess is most people know that refresh Socket 2011 boards are on the way. I can't say for certain what that will bring or when, but I'm personally not expecting to use my current offering when IBe finally makes its appearance.

yeah, that is so awesome deal ... I wish I didn't have my SSD (mushkin chronos 240gb) already... which I bought for $240 8 months ago and it was considered cheap haha! if not for that ... I'd gladly jump on 2x240GB from crucial
