Thank you for the kind words everybody.  Really though, you don't need to worry or pray for me.  I'm extremely healthy and with current drugs and new drugs on the horizon, I don't really think my health will ever be too much of an issue.  May be a little tough at times, but I expect to live a long, happy life.  Some people have not diagnosed until as late as their 60's, and my doctor's tell me if it wasn't for my sister, I may have been one of those people.  And for that I thank her, as I will be able to maintain my health better since I am aware of my condition.  But yes, please do pray for my sister and all other CF patients who aren't so fortunate.  I have a few friends with CF I have met through the Johns Hopkins clinic that are in pretty bad shape, one with kidney and liver failure, and another that is on the waiting list for a lung transplant.  It really is a devastating disease, and I hope to help everyone who has to live with it lead better lives, and I thank you all for joining my cause.

Also, there have been many other great and saddening stories here that I want to thank everyone for sharing.  I will keep everybody with these conditions, as well as their families in my prayers.

Staypuft,

I really enjoyed reading your reasons to Fold.  I too juggle Folding with normal PC work (and play), so your honest revelations made me smile.  I also liked your wife's catch on that next video card.  She sounds like a smart lady and Ill add a prayer for her too.  I'm glad you found this Team too and thanks for opening the kimono with us today.

Why We Fold - November 10

All the things that we love, that we hate; what would it be like without them?  What would life be like?

Sit back and think about the things that we have now that some don't. I had what I think was a good life growing up but right now I'm in college on a college budget sitting in a cramped dorm room.  To my left is my rig, in front is my keyboard with a tempermental delete key. To my right is a picture that reminds me why I fold.

That picture is of my father's side of the family, those memories somehow sealed in a piece of paper. Everyone is smiling there, but I can't take another picture with three of those people anymore.

About 12 years ago, my grandmother passed on. 8 years after that, an uncle passes and a year ago, my great-grandmother left.

This is a reason why I fold: so other families along with the rest of mine can hopefully have an extra day to make one more memory to seal in one more piece of paper that hopefully lives forever.

To Great-Grandma U, Grandma K and Uncle D:
Thank you for the memories,
Adam

Adam, sorry for not replying when your post got featured this morning. I'll PM you when I get off work tonight. Great post and thank you for sharing. If there's an afterlife all those people are probably very proud of all you do!

Here is my November 11th post:

Since today is Veterans Day, first off I want to say thank you to all service men and women in the world. Truly, without you, the US wouldn't be anything like it is today. Thanks!

When I was trying to put my thoughts on paper this morning, I read through some of the posts around the web that Warthorn mentioned and this one just stuck out to me (link):

I fold today for their tomorrows.
I fold today that I might ease their sorrows.

I fold today for those not met.
I fold today for those I'll never forget.

I fold today that I might ease their grief.
I fold today for someone's relief.

I fold today.
I willfold tomorrow!

That is an excellent post...well said by a brother or sister in Folding.  Thanks for putting that one up for us today Adam and a heartfelt "God bless you" to all our Veterans past and present.

Thanks for today's Adam. Glad to see someone took a look at the other teams' pages too

Happy Veterans day to all... Sure there are lots of vets back home folding and probably a few on-duty. In fact I'm sure there are since I sold a few of them stuff

November 12th

Although I've lost quite a few family members to almost every disease folding fights, still a bit unsure what to say of them. So, this article about other families will have to do for now:

"Alzheimer's Youngest Caregivers Watch Over Parents" @ CNN

Hopefully more people will share here, even if you don't feel up to sharing about your own family or friends, there are plenty of good reasons out there like these brave kids. I'm sure plenty of you can relate to Austin in the article, who retreats to play video games when the stress of the disease wears him down... Except of course that you all play PC and not XBOX

Let's fold for these kids today, so that some day other kids will know what their parents were like before a disease hollowed them out.
