Hmm... Question for you guys.

Do I sell the X79 Classified, and go with a 3770K and MVE?

Or keep it and get a 3820?

Heh. I mainly want to trade for one so I can buy a CPU still, Nateman. I also have an X58A-OC, so it's not a need so much as a want.

295's aren't for trade though.  Those things are my babies.

Well, heh. Got a Tek 9 Slim in today, not 100% sure what rev. it is, but it's copper base, alu top. Got a nice deal on it and it's in good condition, so I figured it would be fun to bench with my cards.

If you can sell the classified do so and get another X79 board. Then a 3820.

Is it really that bad? I know there's a bunch of issues floating around but I wasn't sure. What would you recommend looking at getting used if so? Maybe a RIVE?

After thinking on it, I think what I will do is stay with X58 for right now, and then eventually get a UP7 or similar Z77 board and 3770K.

If I were you I would sell the X79 classified and get a i7-3820 and an asus x79 board. I went from an i7-920 and a RX360 getting idle temps in the 40's at stock clocks to a simple loop with a 30mm thick generic 20 dollar swiftech 240mm rad I picked up and I idle at 24c while OC'd to 4.4 ghz at stock volts. Its sweet and I can upgrade to a six core and add more ram if I really want. I think that x79 is the way to go but thats just me.

Also what color is the top on your supreme HF?

Now that im thinking, the Q6600 used to do 3.6 with air cooling, yours doesnt go any higher?

Yeah I hit 3.6 on air with this CPU before, on a stock cooler just for a validation, but it just will not budge above 3.6GHz. I'm convinced it's because of the board to be honest. (Biostar P35)

I think that is what I'll do, I'll stay with X58 for now and then I'll go X79 with an Ivy-E six/eight core I think.

Also, it's the full nickle block I have.
