You did give us a scare for a while.

hhrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm SMbus controll on a GTX280.......

who knows what that means?

this thread cannot DIE!!!!!!

so yeah anyone know what it means? if not it means EVbot control for GTX280. the card has a volteera 1165MF VRM setup. this has SMBus control which means it can have voltage controlled via evbot.

however im pree confused about how to make it work..... but im working on it :)

I don't think the thread will ever die.  John, Q, and Sniper bounced, I put my Dewar into mothball status, and picked up machining.  One day when making waterblocks slows down I will resume benching & breath new life into the thread.

Don't have a 280 so I can't answer your question :(

im working on it, and if i can get it to work ill also add control to my on 2900xt ATI card.

im really getting into this stuff, its quite a huge plunge into this area but i have to start somewhere and id rather skip the boring stuff. my sister gave me a text book for beginners of electronic engineering (she is a radio technician for Australia's biggest railway company)

ill have to start posting results and pictures soon :)

atm im trying to find a working address on the volteera chip to see if the EVBot will talk to it......

i have soldered a female fan header to the addressing resistor pad so i can plug in my 20k VR set at different addresses.

i hope this works :)

Bad news i tore off the solder pad for the addressing resistor FAAAARRRRRRKKKKKKKK!!!!!

my sister is going to try and repair it, i hope it works :S

also nate your GTX295's can be EVbot voltage controlled :D

they use the same volteera chip for VRM!

something to think about :) no CPU overhead on voltage controll is awesome hehehe

The 295 doesn't have the EVBOT port on them.  I just used the software to manipulate the volterra chip.

I remember my days when I started pursuing the Electrical Engineering degree.  Many moons ago.  I switched majors after the first 2 semesters.  If you keep it up and get the degree you will always have a job, and a VERY good one at that!

the GTX280 doesnt have a EVbot port either, also its gygabyte branded

its abit of creative soldering. you need to solder it to the SC and SD pins on the volteera chip and set R_sel0 to the right address. if it has support in wondows via a voltage program (MSIAB, EVGA voltage tune) it would probably be at 11.3k ohms that is channel 0 (R/W). i need to find the correct channel to make it work after my sister fixes it for me

i cant post up the V1165MF datasheet or anything on it cos the water mark stats its NDA >< took me ages to find it.

but here is a "link" to where you can find it:
http://test.rom.by/node/32529

you can download it from the link in that page if you can find you way through the russian then chineese lol

the GTX260 192sp with voltage controll the GTX 280 and 295 duelie can all be modded to use EVBot. basically anything with a volteera master VRM

this is how thye got the EVBot to work on the 5870
