thats the thread. it explains more power usage as aposed to heat output, but the same thing applys. when you start putting 1.5-1.6v into your CPU its going to put out more heat than that phase can handle. 

anyway back to nate, my 8500gt is modded now but im abit depressed with it......... memory tops out at 480-490 @500 it artifacts...... :(
 
good news is that my volt mod for the GPU work awesomely. i also recaped the hell out of the meory, went from 1 cap stock to 4.

That card was all about the mem.  Seems like all cards are like that.  Samsung > Hygwhateverisis.

yeah samsung mnemory on the smalled memory limitied cards is a godsend, my 9500's 1 was samsung and 1 was elixer and the samesung one clocked 100mhz higher, almost a 100% oc for the mem. 
 
my GT240 is NUTS it sits at 800 mem and maxes the sliders out at 1040 w/o a voltage change

also my 8500 has hynix mem

Right now I am using my K-type thermal probe to measure my 1 year olds temp.  102.9°.  Not good.  Handy probe to have though...
 
 

Ouch, that's really high. I agree they are useful as heck though. I wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
