Alright John, what's the biggest, baddest lappy right now?  I've been running the Sager 9280 for 2 years now....time for an upgrade

Ouch...9270 $4k all blinged out.  I was hoping $3k...but dual 580m's

Thanks John.  When you get your r2, lemme know.  I'll get one too, and we can have some fun;)

Q56, you might know...

I have voltmodded a 8800GT 512mb for benching.  I am running 1.2v core on air (for now).  I have done some stability tests and think I found a stable overclock.

But, when I benchmark it, any time it comes down from load, the card turns off.  The core voltage drops to zero and the display shuts off.  I have tried 1.1v and 1.15v and a lower overclock but still the problem persists.

What do you think?  OCP?

Ok...

I did some research.  My version of the card only has two phases instead of 3, so the OCP kicks in more aggressively.

I will try this OCP mod:

OCP mod did it!

Didn't take you long to figure that one out   I just did the vgpu mod to my 8800GT, and typically put 1.3v through it to get 1025 core.  I may do the OCP in the future and see what it yeilds.

Good job Ty!

Oh, I fear that I cannot compete.  I am struggling to reach 800MHz core with 1.2v.  Are you doing more than air?  My core temp is staying around 60c on air with an aftermarket air cooler, but the card wants more voltage.  I am afraid to give it too much voltage since it only has two phases.  I suppose I will gain some more nerve as time goes on once I get the basic benchmarks finished.

Ty just make sure you get some nice backups in incase you kill the card, then go all out.

Well, I have had a 9500GT and a 9600GSO sitting here on my desk for months which I have been planning to benchmark.  With your advice, you think I should go straight to phase change cooling on the 8800GT?
