Nice work ty! Why another SB?

Oh yeah and I did this a while back, in preparation for sub zero...

because....
all SB chips ARE not created =

Why not just bin chips then?

ummmm, that's why he wants to buy another one...this is binning...
and some boards are better than others.
and the resale on these chips means you have to buy them from certain stores and hope for the best.
and not allot of people can just go buy 10 chips at a time..let alone 2..
and most stores will only allow you to get one at a time.

I've done lots of research on binned chips, but cant find a exact answer.
but what exactly are binned chips.

It's where you buy a lot of the same model of CPU, i.e. 5 2600Ks, test them all. Whichever can go highest is the one you keep, sell the rest at ~$30 below retail.

For example, my 960 was binned from a large batch of chips, and was the best I believe, because it can do 4400Mhz on water with right at 1.33Vcore.

sb is different. this isnt like the 4 ghz club. where everyone tries to brag about how low the voltage is...lol

you want to brag at how high your multiplier is, regardless of voltage. or how high your bclk is. still regardless of voltage.
and sb seems to be intels way of getting sales of more chips that ever before. why? because no anyone can over clock them and compete with the big doggs with out spending 1000 dollars to do it.
(speculation of course)

i lucked out on my 56x and i almost sold it. till i found out that these chips were hard to come by.

and that 30 dollars below retail depends on the multiplier of the chip.
279.99 + tax 304.49. and usually this chips are only take a minute or two to know it's max. when you run ss/cass/ln2/dice or anything below zero.

Heh was just using my chip as an example.

What do you typically do to test the chips John?

i know. all is well halo.
my chip is a 56x. so i just put the new chip in. if it boots at that speed, then that's a great start...if it doesnt..then the short range testing begins. by dropping the multiplier till it boots. once it boots. that's it max.

So John what Vcore does your chip take for 56x?

So John what Vcore does your chip take for 56x?

depends on the bench.
light benches, 1.62V
heavy benches 1.660 to 1.7V
