Started one for 2 226w tecs. The actual cost of the material, if it is full copper, i think would be around $100, based on McMasterCarr.

Ouch. lol the top can be aluminum if that would bring the cost down. The contact surface is the only one that matters really imo. Acrylic wouldn't be good for it though..

for me, it's working like a true champ. eraser wasn't cutting it...it was transferring to much cold to surrounding parts.

looks like vaseline, but is 99.9 percent cleaner...
 
but there is vaseline in the socket though. i take no chances with the socket anymore...
