@Q Good luck in your moving on/up.
@nate what you do is simply awesome, I mean everything!
About the forum wars, Heres what I am thinking, just want some input since there is sorta some limitations. Meaning I can't just swap out video cards.
So what I think is 980x with 2 450's. Or would 580's be better? not quite understanding the formula.
Socket 1156 on dice with something (never did dice, attempted a couple weeks back and board which I never tested failed to boot)
Then a 2600K with something again undecided. Haven't benched the 2600K yet but overclocks pretty good.
I suppose what I'm looking for here is suggestions.
  Thanks.

Also if I register am I commited to a particular set up. Like what if my dice attempt fails again? So how
is class determined? Or do things get classed auto by what they are?
  I feel so stupid.

awalleye, a 980x with 580's would be better. Basically, the formula is this for detirmining class:

# of cpu threads + # of gpu cores + cooling type (the handicap are listed in the rules for types) = total #, which tells you what class.

So for gpus at least, you want to use the most powerful ones you can, as 1 580 counts the same as 1 450, 2 580s=2 450s etc. So a 980x with a gtx580 would be the same class as a 980x with a gts450.

I can try and explain it more/give multiple examples if it is still confusing to you.

EDIT: oh yeah, also, you are allowed unlimited downgrades. Here is an example. You sign up with a 980x, 1 580, and dice (just an example remember). That would be 12(threads)+1(gpu)+3(dice)= 16. That would be class A. That means you are permanently in class A. But, if say dice fails for you, you can go to air cooling, but you are still in class A, even though with air your handicap total would be less. Or if your 980x died, and you used a 920, same thing; you would stay in class A. Basically, once the event goes live, you are in your designated class, but if something goes wrong, you can replace it with lesser parts, but stay in that class.

I think you can change up your config until the wars start, you would just have to update where you signed up.

I'm glad Awalleye won't be in my class lol..

For Class D I can near guarantee a 26K in Vantage. Unknown in 06... I think my highest right now is like 27k or so. That was with 756 core though so it has a lot left.

Ok, Now believe it or not I have been able to hit 1000/2000/2300 clocks on stock air with my 580's, how do I prove they are on stock air? Do I have to commit to certain set ups? Or do what ever and submit? Do all runs have to be run within the date line? Run with proper background and submitted within the date line?  Things change around here often. Sorry to be such a pita.
Oh jeese when will I stop with the stupid questions.
So do you have to run with all benches or just the ones you want or would it stupid not to run all benches. I also see must be multiple runs of each bench. Assume avg is your score.

I don't think there is a foolproof way of proving it, just be honest. Do I have to commit to certain set ups? Yes and no. Once the competition starts, whatever rigs you have signed up, you need to bench those. But like i said before, you can always downgrade if something goes awry. Or do what ever and submit? Just run the specified benches, and i think we will be submitting on 411's forum, and the forum police from there just validated it. Do all runs have to be run within the date line? They all just have to be done by the time the submitting is closed. Run with proper background and submitted within the date line? Yes. Things change around here often. Sorry to be such a pita. lol np, i guess you could say i am captaining the EVGA part of this 411-EVGA union for Forum Wars, so i want to have everybody know exactly what they need to.

Any more questions, just ask.

Oh yes, i don't know if you or others have seen the official rules, so here they are: http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6161-forum-wars-2011-rules/

Oh yeah, awalleye, how many 580's do you have? how many 450's? I need to know the number of gpus, not just what types. Also, what cooling would you be using on the 980x? (you had said dice for 1156 but didn't mention cooling for the 1366).

I have read the rules. But somethings just seem vague. Essentially they want honesty which is not a problem.
Perhaps I will do a video showing cards running and going to monitor showing bench running at same time.

Moving on up Q make some waves over there.

For forum wars seems like you want to use the best GPU since theres no handicap on using a 8800 vs 580. That's the way I read it.
