Ok, i've been saving up, possibly for a SS. For me, is it worth it? Remember, i'm a senior in hs, so i still have 5 or so years of not paying the electric bill.

Also, sdumper said he tunes his for -40*C @ 300w. I have always wondered something about this. If i put a lesser load on it, say 150w, will the temp be lower (ex. -70*C), or does it only go to -40*C, but it can stay there up to 300w?

I'm just thinking, because my dice place is far away, and with phase i could be up and benching immediately. I would think this would be nice for me especially now during the school year, because i have alot less time to bench.

You should just ask him, it was to my understanding that tuning to 300w just meant that it could remove that amount of heat safely with out shortening the compressors life span by overheating the compressor or letting refridgerant enter or leave during the wrong phase. All while pulling an efficient amount of energy from the wall.  However I am not sure. Just my take on it. Keep in mind I have been building a ss unit for around 4 months now still nothing to show for it but empty bank account and cool new tools so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

You might want to mention it to him if you are planning on using it for your 775 system it might save him some time and you some money if he only tunes for 225-250 or so. Pretty sure extra steps/equipment needed to pass the 250 barrier.

Thanks Reg. I'm pretty sure my main rig (i7) would get some SS love if i got one.
