How does this sound...  Build your chiller and use it on the weekends and when you want to bench.  During the week, use a BONG cooler.

Then what do i do with my DICE pot? I have been considering a bong cooler too (maybe instead of the chiller)...

So from what you guys say, chiller cost a b*tch for the e-bill. I assume that is 24/7, or at least every day. What if i run it 5 hours a day, 3 days a week? I couldn't possibly see much of an increase (more than say $20 a month), could i?

enable the t-stat during the week. that way it shuts off when a certain temp is reached. when benching, turn the t-stat off

That works too.  With the thermostat off (or set to a very low temp), the compressor (the real wattage maker) will run constantly.  When you set the thermostat to a temp just a hair above the dew point, you can get "chilled" liquid and not even have to worry about condensation.

+1 wouldn't want any leaking into my cpu socket, burn marks on the cpu void the warranty.

I don't think you'd get good heat transfer...it might be the same or worse than not using thermal paste.
