did you check overclock.net they have an awsome catalaog of voltmods I remember I had a alpha dog 8800gt forgoet what I found ill poke around though. I think I fried that card trying to strap a socket 775 waterblock over the cpu with a huge clamp......

You should take a picture and put that in the Ghetto Thread.

But yea, overclock.net has a GREAT voltmod section.

I should have had my chiller hooked up and everything I was too pissed when I blew it I threw away the pictures I planned on bragging with.

@ rudster xfx and msi cards are kind of a pita to mod because they usually dont use a different pcb design, at least that was my expereince.

Easiest and only vmod i ever did was on a pny 9800gtx+ solder points are pretty large. Never gained that much from it about 80 mhz on gpu and 100 or so on mem, didnt want to shell out the money to cool the card better and just said screw it.

Oh yea, Im coming home guys got a EVGA 470 and a evga 8800gts  on the way I can finally post my rig in the mods rig section. Its been a while since Ive had a evga card.

Wow, and i though XS had lots of voltmod stuff. OCN has a ton! And i think i may have found what i need it this thread at OCN: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/391307-how-vmod-your-8800-gs-gt.html

But it looks like only vgpu. is a vmem mod really necessary, or would i be fine with just vgpu? I really want to get some cups or top 5s or even top10s in the 8800gs 384mb category on the bot.

Do the vm those cards are crazy hard to get cups with because a few people from ocn and other places have vmodded them and then put them on chilled water or at least water. I would do the vmem too if its not to hard and you dont think you will damage your card. I wouldnt push the mem to far though without a aftermarket heatsync.

Maybe you will have better luck if you plan on benching this on dice.

[<font]CL3P20 and pizza man are both very cool about helping people get started too. If you have any questions just pm them.

I have been planning to bench them on dice, if i can vmod them successfully, and if i can get a decent gpu pot for a good price. (hint hint nate possibly)

I have already benched the 8800gs's i have, and where they max kinda sucks...around 700 core.

Also, anyone have opinions on a good soldering iron? Preferably variable temp.

If you find any cheap GPU pots let me know I've been looking as well, only one I know of is kingpin's Tek-9 for $185.... Wish koolance still sold/made gpu pots, they sold for about $150 but I can't find them anywhere

Maybe Nate can save us all by whipping up some killer gpu pots

Hell no. The Koolance ones SUCKED, couldn't handle the LN2 temps, read some nasty stories about them. Just do like I am, and get a tek 9 @ $185 when you can afford it.

There is ALWAYS something going on in the doo mans shop...
But those tek 9's seem like good stuff to me.  Copper isn't cheap.
