Any reference 5870 will work in crossfire, no bios flashing should be needed.

No, only the same family of GPU's can Crossfire togther. E.g. 58xx with other 58xx cards. The only "exception" to this being the 5970 with the 58xx cards.

e.g. 5770's cant CF with 5830's, but they can CF with 5750's.

yet...you are wrong once again.
you can in fact crossfire them...but will it yield better performance xfiring a 5770 with a 5870...no, it will not. and it's also not easy to do, but can be done.
a 5870/5850/5970..yes, with little to no trouble.

You cant CF them officially, I'm not sure if there is a hacked driver for it or not however. That would be like saying X48 supports SLI if it did.

and they said we couldn't
put water on a cpu
break an ac apart to cool a pc
make a casscade system for a pc
over clock past 3 ghz / 4ghz / 5ghz/ 6ghz/ 7ghz
and yet....it's been done..
so what point are you trying to make? if we listen to you...hell...we'll stay in the stone age...rotflmao!

Thats entirely different, and its a dumb argument to make. ATI doesnt support it, period. Yeah, someone may be able to make a hacked driver for it, but the limitation is likely in the hardware.

Its like saying we can SLI a GTX 280 with a GTX 480 if we try really hard. In all likely hood, its just psychically impossible, and pointless to do.

They said we couldnt go to the moon. Does that mean we can go to Uranus? No.

There are some things in life that just arent possible.

Yeah, someone may be able to make a hacked driver for it, but the limitation is likely in the hardware.<--- it's call bios flashing, pretty sure you can flash a 5770 to a 5870, but of course you wont be picking up any more shaders in the process.(speculation of course)

Its like saying we can SLI a GTX 280 with a GTX 480 <----ummm, no. they are not made from the same tech, so your stretching
.if we try really hard. In all likely hood, its just psychically impossible, and pointless to do. <--true..that was pointless

They said we couldnt go to the moon. Does that mean we can go to Uranus? <---today...no...in the future..maybe...you don't know. your guessing.

There are some things in life that just arent possible. and making a gtx 280 into a gtx 480 is surely one of them...making a 5770 into a 5870 is way more plausible.
