Evga has officially said that it will support 4 way SLI. Its not "internet chatter".

Just comparing this score to my score of my Stock Quad SLI score.
(no physx)

Mine: 23342                 30102
GPU: 26432                    32241
         71                          98
         83                          89

CPU:17280                    25106
         2413                     3525
         22.36                    31.99

So my STOCK scores are not that far off his LN2 scores?  am I missing something?  The 480's are not that much better then the 295's?

He is running the cards with a very mild OC Nate. His core speed is 770\mem 1020\shader 1540.

A single GTX 480 is on par with a single GTX 295. Quad SLI scaling is what makes two GTX 480's stomp on x2 GTX 295s.

I vote you buy a pair of 5970's. Far cheaper than a Quad\Tri GTX 480 setup. I also dont think Nvidia will be able to get the heat down enough to come out with a dual GPU card for quite awhile.

im wondering if nvidia is going to come with another high end gpu that doesn't need water cooling...

i still have to wait for the dual gpus to hit...grrrrr! might have to ditch this board for a 7 laner.

Grab another 5970 and two waterblocks and start benching

I am not looking at the 480's in terms of GPU's, but in terms of a videocard as a whole.  When it boils down to it, it is a single graphics card, vs another.  If they want to pack 2 gpu's in 1 card thats up to nvidia.  It is 1 card occupying 1 pci-e slot, and thats how I will look at it.  My 2 cards, vs his 2 cards.

I know there is more to it, but people hyped the crap out of those cards so I am going to be a skeptic still.  I am not in any rush to sell my 295's as of yet- but that wild 3d stuff I saw definatly has my attention.

1x480 = 1x295 look about right.  Too close to call right now.    I'm sure Nvidia is comparing the 480 to a 295 co-op when it shows it beating the 295 by a little bit.  If that's all correct, there's no reason to ditch the 295's just yet.  Wait for dual pcb version.....

Here's the top 480 vantage bench on HWbot...980X, all LN2:

Pretty weak...

I took my 980X out of the motherboard and noticed a small little scratch on the surface.  Like a pick mark.  It goes into the metal because I can see the copper color underneath.  The water block also as it??  Maybe some debris got in between?  I don't know.  Doesn't effect performance, but I'd rather fix it...at least the water block as I don't want to void the CPU warranty.

How and what do I use to lap my copper HK 3.0 water block?
