yeah, not sure what cards you have been benching but intel favors ati just like ati favors 3dmark06 over nvidia and nivia use to favor vantage over ati, but since the 5k series that all changed drastically. nvidia favors certain games over ati. and so on and so on.
but for this discussion.

there is an influence and this has been well known for a long time now.

Rudster is to young to remember the nightmare of trying to run a ati card on a socket 478 board .

@jon if your dying to get a 930 there only 200bucks this week from microcenter and another 920 will run you 180

Hey jon you think these got a shot against 920s. Link

Or are they just aiming at the h55/57 platform with something else in mind for 1366?

have no clue..that's why i look to you guys.

i have been intel for so long its hard to try to do amd cpu's again...back when they failed under to much heat...i quit using them.
but now..seems they are coming back in the game and moving right along.
damn..would mean i would need a back up amd board as well...lol

i really need to have a few chips
e8600
xeon
920
975
980

just to be able to bench all categories
although the i5's seem to be pretty nice.

damn, i have benching itis....lol

Those are definitely AMD's "Answer" to Gulftown, but its more of a competition between those and Bloomfield. Should be interesting to see if the PII X6 can beat Bloomfield in 3D Benchmarks. If it does, I have a feeling that quite a few people might pickup an AM3 setup, most people cant afford a $1100 CPU.

New RAM\Motherboard\CPU for AM3 is cheaper than the Intel CPU.

Now with the 5xxx series popularity, I think AMD chips should really start doing better. I cant wait for Bulldozer though!

BTW, I'm old enough to remember S478, I just wasnt an enthusiast back than. I use to have a 233mhz K6. Heck, my dad still has his laptop that has a ~88mhz CPU in it somewhere around here that I remember him winning of of Ebay.

dont get me wrong..the 980 is kicking but! and at 3d it's doing the same...not sure what to make of it with nvidia though....waiting on some of the top's to re run those.

seems q56 was losing points in his 3d gpu benches..sure hope this is NOT  a trend!

Don't worry John...go ahead and buy that 980x.  It'll do great with nvidia cards.  There is still ALOT left to do.....all room temperature, ambient water cooling only.

What kind of temps are you getting at 4.7ghz 1.62v on that chip

I seem to hit a brick wall at 4.4ghz for benching with ambient temp water. If I try 4.5ghz, it will fail if I run it with the GPU test, and when I do the CPU test only (which passes), my score is 200 points or less than what it is at 4.4ghz.

Who cares...I just wanna score, LOL!

Seriously...the temps are all over the place 13c, 38c, 78c, 5c.  Whatever....if it says 101, I give it some more juice!
