I didn't bother taking pictures because this hasn't caused an issue besides slightly higher temps (but my case-cooling is OP so nothing bad came out of it ever).

I was originally only going to do the regular Thermal Pad Mod after I received the pads but I decided "hey, what the heck" and did the VRAM thermal mod also.

I encourage EVERYONE to do it. I received both sets of instructions (VRAM and the normal pad mod) and it was relatively easy to follow if you pay attention. Although, IF you are doing the VRAM mod, there are 3 additional screws UNDER THE BACKPLATE which you can't unscrew UNTIL you take the backplate off (due to the fact you can't even see them). They are right along the middle of the card. These are necessary to take off the baseplate for installing the VRAM pads.

The main reason I'm happy I did the VRAM mod is due to the fact 2 of the 8 VRAM modules didn't even have a thermal pad on them . It never caused me an issue before but at least any CHANCE moving forward has been remedied.

Even if you aren't going to do ANY modding of the thermal pads, at least check the thermal PASTE. I've only had this card since the end of June and there were parts of the GPU core either not covered or the paste was already starting to cake/harden. After re-applying my own paste (Grizzly Kryonaut) my temps went down about 8 degrees Celsius under full GPU load.

tldr; this is the first time I've ever taken apart a GPU and instructions were very simple to follow (start with VRAM mod instructions first as it will tell you when to move to the other set.). If you don't want to do the mod, you should at least check the thermal paste/re-apply it with your own as a safety precaution if your temps are higher than you'd like.

Well 2 of 8 chips don't touching the thermal pads is pretty average. In my card there's one not touching and one barely doing.

I'm not talking about 2 chips not touching thermal pads...I'm talking about coming from the factory, 2 chips didn't HAVE thermal pads at ALL.

Sorry I misread that. The quality control is a complete joke.
