I'm not too sure where to post this. So sorry in advance. Short story. Requested thermal pads Monday. It's uhhh Friday, yes Friday lol. Just curious when/time frame of arrival on average?

Also, in regards to the hybrid cooler. Is that overkill? I saw glossy, kinda sticky black pads on the areas. We're those thermal pads? ( yes I am an ultra noob I normally never apply anything ) and should I apply these pads I requested anyways? Thanks! :)

I ordered them when they first were available (edit: 21 October) and I'm still waiting - they just shipped out.

In regards to the hybrid kit, it depends what you're going to do (OC, bench testing etc.). I had already thought about getting the hybrid kit before knowing about the thermal fiasco, but since knowing about it has pushed me to get the watercooling. The thermal pads come with the kit, so I didn't bother ordering the free ones or RMA'ing the card. Especially because as of now, my card never gets above 62 C with a custom fan curve (I haven't updated the BIOS either), I get a stock boost of 1974Mhz and can easily OC it to 2100Mhz with only a 120Mhz offset with no power or voltage adjustments. So I'm definitely not willing to trade it in lol!

I just got mine set up finally. With thermals. Recent OC is 120 power 125 clock and 300 memory 76% fan. Plus the AIO kit. Highest temp was 56 Celsius, passed fire strike with 99.7%.

Not bad for my first OC! :D

Nice, glad it worked out. I should be getting my hybrid kit by next Tuesday, so hopefully I get temps that low under load!

I have the 1080 SC in a Fractal Design S Nano (read ITX case) with the ACX 3.0 cooler. Temps were 81/82C under load with fans at 100%. I wanted more quiet and cool, so ordered the thermal mod kit and the AIO hybrid cooler. The thermal mod kit shipped Monday and received on Wednesday!

I installed the hybrid cooler using all the pads from the thermal mod kit, including the narrow pad for the baseplate. I opted to cover the VRMs with the narrow pad even though there is a cutout on the baseplate for blower air cooling. The idea was to put the edges of each narrow pad under the baseplate. This should channel heat into the baseplate more efficiently, although I did not test the temp results of the VRMs specifically.

Without overclocking: Unigen Heaven High @ 3440x1440:
Clocks:
    GPU: 2012MHz
    Memory:5005MHz
Temps:
   Ambient: 25.5 C
GPU (Case Fans Max: Can't hear over pc audio) 45 C
GPU (Case Fans Custom Quiet) 50C

Extremely happy with the results!
