I own these two cards. I'm going to keep 6GB version since I bought in June and it's working fine. However I still can return the 3GB model. I called EVGA and they said I shouldn't be concerned but the information is all over.

Ahh, so the problem persists if people are using defaults speeds. If I'm using custom fan speeds then no worries, right?

Have this card. EVGA did release an bios update with an updated fan curve for my card it's more aggresive now . Just to be safe? or isn't it?

Yes, evga did have an updated vbios available for the card at one time in the past. The vbios update is no longer being offered. The reason the vbios update is no longer being offered is because evga has deemed it not necessary after extensive testing of the card.

Am I missing something here? Both parts 03G-P4-6162-KR and 06G-P4-6163-KR have updated BIOS still listed in the stickied thread for the PWM Temperature issue, and as someone with a 06G-P4-6163-KR noticed a not insignificant boost to fan speed as a result of applying it. Don't have the exact figures in front of me, but happy to post the updated curve/percentages when I get home.
