I have had this motherboard for quite some time (~2008~) and love it. It is a superior example of excellence in quality products.
EVGA's LGA775 790i Ultra Sli Motherboard (132-CK-NF79-A1). Paired with, it I have Intel's Qx9770 Processor.
   Needles to say, it performs just fine. (*Topic for another time*) I also have one ASUS Rampage Extreme X48 LGA775 Motherboard, with a Qx9770 as well, and unfortunately have yet to determine which is the superior LGA775 Motherboard due primarily to a lack of ability in overclocking the rigs (and the $means$ to attempt such endeavors) ... one day ... one day.
   The problem that I am having which I really could use some assistance with, is that ... ... what ended up happening was:
I came up on a z77 SABERTOOTH motherboard sometime ago and a friend of mine gave me Intel's 3770K (haswell, I believe) to utilize with the build. Unfortunately, I did not possess the means to build a new rig at the time ... so, I improvised and dismantled my 790i configuration to utilize the chassis and components to try out the "more modern" build. Since then, thankfully, I have (only just recently) managed getting that build it's own damned chassis and components better suited for it, and resurrected my 790i build (back in the original case, with the original PSU and all) ... I have of course added some upgrades since the initial build -- such as a SSD C:\ and new RAM stix (2x4GB [F3-14900CL8D-8GBXM] G.SKILL Ripjaws X @ 1600MHz). I intend to upgrade the video-card, soon, and possibly increase the RAM to as much as these(*) boards will take (Both the 790i and the x48 ... and then oc them to see which one reigns supreme) ... anyway,
   Now that everything is back up and running ... it's not all 'hunky-dory'. :(
   I cannot figure out what the problem may be, but when I go to boot the computer it comes up with a message (*i'll edit it in [HERE], for better detail after next reboot* ... **EDITED, at the bottom...sry) and just constantly reloads the message -- insane. The only way for me to access my O.S. is to manually select the boot-sequence and tell the board to boot from the C:\ ... along with that though, I cannot get the audio (at all) or the HDMI functioning correctly (EVGA GTX 460 01G-P3-1373-AR VideoCard) ... Prior to resurrecting it, everything was working adequately. The HDMI, the AUDIO, the not having to manually bypass the boot-sequence ... :(
   The only thing different since it's original configuration is that it is now operating with a SSD and 'better quality' RAM modules. Could it be something is conflicting with these newer components?

If I interrupt it with pressing, the only thing which works?, "Esc" it restarts from the "NVIDIA BOOT A..."
The only thing I can do once at this point is reboot, press "Esc" (during post for BootOption) and select the C:\ to load up my O.S.

Exactly what SSD are you using?..Did you clear CMOS and try again?
 
Never had an SSD in my 790i (FTW), but it seems to be trying to boot from Network from what I've gleaned from just a little searching about the PXE errors, I dunno..A few settings below you can look into.
 
In the Advanced BIOS Features, check the Hard Disk Boot Priority and the First Boot Device is correct, not [Network]..Also, Boot Other Device [Enabled]..There's also MAC Config [Disabled] in Integrated Perhiperals..In the Standard CMOS Features you'll need to set Drive A to [None] if there's no Floppy Drive, or maybe Halt On to [No Errors] could help.
 
You can [Enable]/[Disable] HD Audio (onboard) in Integrated Perhiperals and also select your Playback Device in Windows and Set Up Digital Audio (HDMI) in NVIDIA Control Panel.

Thanks for input on re-confirming BIOS configuration. By default, "Bootable Add-In Cards" was #1 on boot sequence, followed by the drives. I went ahead and just shifted the SSD to boot priority (1), and everything is now functioning accordingly. I still don't have the audio yet working ... I'm thinking that when I eventually switch out the video-card to something more like EVGA's 1050 (*Cyber-Monday Deal Fingers-Crossed*) that the HDMI/Audio should start working again ... hopefully. In the meantime, I do have a spare 'SupremeFX X-Fi' SoundCard which had come with the RampageExtreme which I may be able to make use of to remedy the audio situation.
It's just weird to me that everything was working just fine, then I disassembled and boxed everything for sometime, cleaned and rebuilt it all -- upgraded only the C: and RAM -- and yet, for some reason unbeknownst to me, the AUDIO does not seem to want to work (either through the 3.5mm jack or the HDMI cable) ... weird.
  *EDIT* Correction! I do not have a spare Audio-Card ... because the PCIe'x1 Port is obstructed by the VideoCard :(   and the other PCIe'x1 port is currently in use for the WiFi card. Whoopz. ... ... hopefully, I'll manage being able to fix my audio issues without having to fiddle around with the physical hardware.   >.<

   It's baffling to me that the x48REX refuses to work in a 2x4 configuration and I can only manage getting at most 8GB of RAM (4x2@2000MHz) working with it, when other peoples supposedly have gotten 16GB -- even 32GB!? -- working on their rigs. I know people have said that they were successful in doing the same with EVGA's 790i Ultra SLI ... and, myself, now having it in a 2x4 config. It doesn't surprise me that it's feasible.
   *That being said: By default, without actually performing any stress-tests / benchmarks / w.e., it appears as though -- undoubtedly -- the 790i chipset is superior to the x48 for LGA775 mobo's ... a little late for the feedback, but yeah. Why? Because without having to tinker/fiddle/potentially-mod anything, out of the box the 790i is capable (maybe) of running >8GB RAM, whereas the x48 is not.
   790i LGA775 = Winner.

Wait a second, "Bootable Add-In Cards" !? Does that mean that this board also features a form of AHCI(*), and that I can utilize something such as a PCIe SSD as my primary!?  0:

Glad you made headway there..I remember my Boot Priority would change for some wierd reason if I added or switched around a PCI/PCIe card, so remember that too..Bootable Add-In Cards are for network cards for networking with another PC's Operating System, I think, not sure, never had to monkey around with it..Pretty sure your board can use a PCIe SSD, not positive, you'd need to search that, forum search or otherwise.
 
You can read through How do I setup my NVIDIA based graphics card to work with my HDTV? at NVIDIA Support about dealing with sound issues (HDMI and other) which might shed some light on things and you can search for more help articles there too..You can skip the S/PDIF part because a GTX 460 has it's own internal audio chip..It just may be a simple setting you're missing..Disable onboard audio in the BIOS if you're using audio through the 460's HDMI, and enable (not Auto, or it may auto-switch to strictly using the 460's audio) onboard audio if you're using the mobo's audio out connectors.

My god 790i ultra was the board of dreams back then. Was the greatest board that ever lived life!

Still is, even till today (imo) -- comparatively speaking: seeing as the latest socket was a revert back to 2011(version3) o.O
Anyway:
Excluding a few "improvements" made to newer boards (I still think this 775 has more potential because of ease to maintain temperature controls [easier to keep ~cool~]), such as USB3.0 / improved sATA xFer rates / PCIe3.0 and faster network-speeds (rj45Port) / etc. --and I'm sure others that I am unfamiliar with--this board (EVGA 790i Ultra) is still just as kick-ass today as it was ~9Years ago.
 
I only just recently added the RAM in a 2x4 configuration, but have hear'd tell that other users successfully managed in surpassing the 8GB threshold ... seeing as this board is still adequate by today's means (until the New*Chipset comes out), I too was wanting to try my hand at the endeavor. *Can anyone point me in the right direction?* And/Or: will the current RAM that I am utilizing be able to just (because I only have spare ADATA 32GB [4x8, AX3U2400W8G11-DMV] sticks to test, otherwise*) add more to attempt such a feat?

I guess I'm just nostalgic about my build from so long ago that set the bar for any/all thereafter ... but it works just fine enough that I'm thinking a RAM upgrade would be more than 'called-for' to prolong its life-span (until the "new socket" debuts for a new ~10Year~ build, I'm planning on continuing regular use out of this (EVGA 790i) beast ... *eventually though, when I do make the switch to nextYears(?) hardware, I'm going to (notRetire) the build, but just set it up as a Gaming/SocialMedia *Guest* Orientated Computer. Otherwise, my primary use out of these rigs is (~6TB of Games [!ThxSteam :( !]) work orientated: Adobe Master Suite 6, Blender, C++, Microsoft Office 2003, MediaServer(*), and eventually Source2 [when it finally does surface].       *Sry for any Waffle*
