Ok, with it doing the same thing in another computer (aka the problem followed the card) it points to the card being the problem - RMA that sucker, and ask EVGA to send you a pre-paid label as this one failed to work out of the box as the replacement.
 
One last thing - is the game(s) using more than 3.5GB of VRAM?

ive never had this issue before with any other graphics card! i borrowed a r9390 from my brother it works flawless! he just bought a evga gtx 1080 i tryed it yesterday it worked great, but with this gtx 970 in his computer it did the same thing! my brothers, and i happen to game together alot! so i have tryed quite a few alternatives! im sure its just this card i also do use ddu but this time i just reinstalled windows to make sure still the same issue persists.
