A custom fan curve that goes to 100% at the desired temperature would more than likely be a sufficient audible wail.

I seems that the utility would require a written code update in order to generate an audible signal.  Possible, but someone has to get paid for it.  But it's a good idea, imho.

Imagine an advertising slogan, "Now you really can have all the bells and whistles with EVGA!"

Hey Jerry,

Open the Precision XOC OSD/Monitoring Settings..Select 'GPU temperature' in the 'Select GPU Statistic' dropdown..Select 'GPU1' (or 2 or 3 or 4 for those with more than one GPU) under 'Show in monitor'..Go down to 'Monitor Settings' and type in the 'Maximum value' temperature you desire and select 'Play alarm sound when value is out of range'..The alarm will go off at that temperature..Same with 'Minimum value', which you can leave at 0 or whatever.

The Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) as specified by NVIDIA for a GTX 1070 GPU chip is 94 (see Specs), but GPU Boost will begin to throttle your card down at around 83C (pretty sure it's 83C for your card) in order to keep temperature down.

Note that the Hardware Monitor (Graphs) must be running (not on Pause) for alarms to be active.

For fun: If you don't like/want the stock Alarm sound (that hopefully you'll never hear anyway) that comes with Precision, you can get a .wav file from a multitude of free sources (search free wav sounds, free sound effects) such as WavSource..Download your desired .wav file and rename it to Alarm..Go to the Sound folder in Precision and move (or delete) the existing Alarm file from the folder and replace it with your new Alarm file.

Thanks for the info, bob16314!  I stand corrected in that there is already an option for audible warnings.

My apologies to Jerry_EvGA. I've used nothing but GPU-Z so far on the new card.  I should have dug around before replying.

Now to locate those bells and whistles sound files.

No problemo..Just be advised though that Precision X/XOC has a habit of not saving some settings for some people so it's a good idea to recheck and see if your settings stick after closing/opening the program and upon startup/restart of your PC..If that is true for you, MSI Afterburner is an alternative for OSD and other stuff (but no temp alarm though) if Precision causes problems..I think it's a good idea to have Real Temp running at all times in the background through Task Scheduler at log on too..Real Temp is simple and has CPU and GPU alarms as well as a ShutDown.bat that can shut down your PC if you're away from it and CPU or GPU overheating should occur for some reason, which brings peace of mind..HWiNFO64 also has temp monitoring/alarm capability, but is more advanced and requires more doinking around..I just use Precision XOC and Afterburner at times, along with Real Temp.

In my case, setting will be saved. But Nevertheless i checked it sometimes after closing / rebooting pc.
But it keeps setting. lucky me :D

Now im going to check if temp alarm will work fine.
