Well as promised in my post here :

http://forums.evga.com/EVGA-1080-FTW-Thermal-Pads-Home-Fix-Video-m2581886.aspx#2581886

and the personal mod vid. that I've done over here

I've started  testing the card after adding the pads with some burn tests, both test ran for 20m's and the videos below are running @ 1000% speed

1- First test was Unigine Heaven - Ran for 20 m's max temps never got above 55c. you can watch the test here

2- 2nd burn test was Furmark, as before ran for 20 m's max temp reached around 60c. video below

I know its not the most scientific way to test the card thermals and the error room is around 10 tp 15% but still thats a good indicator for more daily down to earth use. well in games mostly which i will post strarting tomorrow.

Please note that I live in Dubai, and my house is aircondineted and room temp is fixed at 21c. Tests were done with open case door using the FLIR one andriod ver.

Cheers

Relentlessly
Pretty much same as what I get without the mod (waiting for the pads at the moment). Have two Phobya temp sensors mounted under the back plate but not touching the PCB, just over the VRM (at ethier end).

Same haven't update BIOS, just a custom curve, fans max out at around %75 which is about 65c on the core and around 48-54c on the probes. So thats about 2100 RPM.

Damn. You got all the FujiPoly pads... those are hella expensive. Good job! Great installation!

Thank you m8
I do push the cards to their limits, so why not use top of the line material.

Also, I fold@.home 24/7

Hello from Dubai o/

It seems my evga thermal pads request will take a long time to arrive. I want to game on my card!

Are these Fujipoly 1.5 mm pads fine for the "Narrow" pad? I read somewhere else, this part needs to be 1mm thickness.

Planning
  • VRAM 1.5 mm
  • VRM 1.5 mm
  • Narrow pad 1.5mm or 1mm
  • Backplate wide pad 2mm
