It's nice there is a choice between noise and temperature. Personally, since I usually game at a very low volume, I couldn't live with the fans at 1800RPM. However, sustained high temps also bug me, so my curve is basically silence until around 70C at which point it ramps up to jet engine levels. I've been very pleased with the 1070 FTWs. Idling at just 1-2 degrees over my CPU still amazes me after coming from a 390X.

Same here. Mine never goes over 60 with this custom fan curve:

That custom fan curve will do it  - many folks either don't want to take the time or don't want make their card louder even if it will keep temps nice and low. And these Pascal cards crave low temperatures to keep a steady boost clock.




Now that is just wrong. Pascal cards will keep a steady boost no matter what, however the boost will be higher the lower the temperature. Maybe thats what you wanted to get across but wrote something else...
