My main question for you experts is is my rig going to handle what I'm asking. I'm looking for a 27 inch or more with 2k resolution with around 144hertz and maybe G sync cause I'm a gamer.

Re:
Hi there.

I have :

GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW video card

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60 GHz (8CPUs)

Just to give you an idea of what I'm intending to use this monitor for; -Im a casual gamer. That being said I do play multiplayer FPS's. - I play in a dark basement.

I am completely oblivious to WQHD IPS G-sync and the such and was really hoping you experts can shoot me some ideas for a monitor I can enjoy.

I want to be blown away, but not too much as to blow away my entire savings. Something thats easy on the eyes you know?

What do YOU think?

Hello,

If you play CS:GO or FPS I would recommend a 144hz monitor at 1920x1080 (1080p).  One you might look at would be the ASUS VG248QE seen below for $260.  In order to get the benefits of a 144hz monitor in gaming you need to get 144fps+ in the game, something you don't see with a 970 on a lot of games.  But CS:GO is definitely an exception as a 970 can pull 300+FPS.  If you're playing Call of Duty or Fall Out 4 and games that are graphically demanding where you're seeing 60-100FPS in game then a 144hz monitor might not be worth the money.  In that case I would recommend either a 60hz monitor or a 120hz monitor at 1080p.  You can get a nice 1080p 60hz monitor for $150 and save the $100 up for another item like putting it towards NVIDIA's next microarchitecture, code named Volta which might release 2017 (most likely 2018 though).

Note: I would also recommend using Displayport (DP) for this monitor.  The monitor does not come with a DP cable, but you can buy one.

Definitely nothing more than 1920x1080 for a 970.
