The question on my mind is if the EVGA MOSFETS strip pad will still make contact with the plate after swapping to the thicker VRAM pads we will receive from EVGA.

there is no replacement for the stock mosfet strip pad from evga thermal pad mod, and i suggest you replace this by your own with thicker pad.

If I could get mine locally, I would have when I first read about the issue, however, it's more of a "specialized" item here and thus, never available.

Joa my card is just fine, since I installed my pads the cut ones... look how I cut my thermal pads, also they are the cheap ones and they work just fine, no issues with card whats so ever, at least I have a ease of mind, since I know all components are touching the cooler now. So even if you have to stack thermal pads like I did in some cases did 3x stacks and some 2x stacks to get exact thickness you gonna be just fine. Been almost 2 weeks or more now, since I did all of that and no issues whats so ever. Game I play is bf1, and no black screens so far :D

yes, go for your own.
the above video shows clearly the mosfets make contact with the stock strip pad but again clearly the indentation is not deep enough like other brands' cards mosfet pads do. a thicker strip pad may help more, given the quality of the pads in terms of heat dissipation are identical or even better.

i will cut a strip from the 2mm thick pad sent by evga. but i dont know how long evga takes to send the pad to me...maybe i should buy my own pads.

did you use 2mm pad for stock vrm pad replacement??
is the stock vrm pad 1.5mm??

very nice video but i dont know why the video is mute.
to remove the midplate, backplate must be removed first, so after installing thermal pads on the back of the pcb, dont mount the backplate first if you need to take off the midplate then.

The only 2mm i used is for the back-plate VRM section, rest is 1.5mm and fits perfectly

and you are correct back-plate needs to be removed in order to remove the mid-plate
