Could you not have just set a custom fan curve to control the fan's speed, rather than re-flashing to the old BIOS.  MSI AB or Precision X OC both work quite well.  I actually prefer AB.

Sorry but what did you think the BIOS update would do? They stated loud and clear that it increases the fan curve (and nothing else), so of course the Fans will be louder if they spin faster.
I'm going with the Thermal Pad mod INSTEAD because i don't want that kind of noise and i tested myself where my threshold of "acceptable noise" is for this GPU... and 2000 RPM is as high as i think is acceptable without getting into Jet Engine territory.

All you can do now to get the card silent again is to do a custom fan curve in MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X.

And do the Thermal Pad Mod yourself, it really isn't hard, GamerNexus has a good video up on their Youtube how to install it.

...unless you can find the original BIOS somewhere and flash it back, i don't know where you would get that, maybe it is somewhere on the EVGA site, i don't know.

With the two 140mm Pure Wings 2 in the front as intake, and the default 120mm on the top and rear.
Still the same thing. My cpu runs 10° cooler though.

It is not the problem of the case fans. My 1080 went from 1250rpm under load to 2050rpm under load with the BIOS up-date. Flashing the old BIOS again, it is back to 1250rpm. Imho EVGA needs to come up with a new BIOS that is not as aggressive.

Where did you get the original VBIOS ?

I'll try MSI AfterBurner. Do you have any advice on how to set a good fan curve ?

Yeah I already watched the video but in case something goes wrong I don't want to have a 700€ gpu that's broken in my hands. Also if I have to sell it or send it to warranty to the seller they can refuse it since it's been modified.

I saved it with GPUZ before doing the update.

I adjusted the fan curve to look like this :

After 1.5 hour of load, the GPU didn't exceed 65° and the fans hit 1400rpm max which is very correct.
My CPU didn't exceed 50°, it's perfect.

Thanks to everyone !

Well, it does go back to 77° and 2200rpm on Overwatch but perfectly fine on GTA V (59°/55% fan;1500rpm).

I don't get it...

Original vbios can be downloaded here. You'll need to use the latest version of nvflash to reflash the original.

Thank you for these links.

I'm seriously thinking about installing those pads and switching back to the original VBIOS.
I'll contact the seller tomorrow to know if my warranty is still valid if I install this mod or if it does not.
