Hey guys/gals,

I've just got me a brand spanking new SC17 1070 laptop.  Love this thing.  Everything is top-notch and working well (a bit too well)... except G-SYNC.  Cannot enable it and the normal "Set up G-SYNC" option is not showing in the NVIDIA control panel (see screenshot at end).

From some of the forums I've looked at, this usually means no G-SYNC enabled monitor is attached... but the SC17 1070 is supposed to have a G-SYNC panel.

No G-SYNC is a deal-breaker for me and I really don't want to have to return this beautiful laptop.  Any assistance to get G-SYNC enabled would be much appreciated.

Other details:
-NVIDIA driver 375.70
-No external monitors attached

Have tried:
-reinstalling drivers;
-reinstalling drivers using DDU (clean install);
-clean install of windows 10;
-pulling my hair out (didn't help much...).

Hello,

I apologize for any confusion regarding the set up on your new SC17.

The SC17 does not have a G-sync module for the built in display. The SC17 does have G-sync support for an external G-sync display however.

Wait what?  I just want to make sure we're talking about the same SC17 (there's two versions).

I know the 980M SC17 (first version from EVGA) only had support for external GSYNC monitors.  I'm talking about the new SC17 with GTX1070 (model number 758-41-2633-T1).

Everything I've read pointed to it having a UHD G-SYNC 60Hz display.  That is, NVIDIA's mobile G-SYNC laptop displays for the new GTX-1070 displays.

Can you confirm that the new (as in only a couple of months old) SC17 with the GTX1070 machines don't have G-SYNC for the built-in displays???

Hello,

I can confirm that both SC17 models only offer external G-sync display support. The built in 4k IPS display is not a G-sync display.

Thanks for confirming this quickly MDecker,

Was a little disappointed at first but to be honest the build quality and performance of this machine is so freaking amazing (including the games I play) that I'm fine with the built-in display not having G-SYNC.

Thanks again MDecker.
