Hi all,

Hope you've been busy with Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare!

We are considering making server changes to the games we have available.
Most are currently hosted on GameServers but we have been looking into going back to NFO but with different locations this time.
We had them all hosted in Texas before so this should help with pings being in different locations.
Battlefield 4 will still be hosted with GameServers except we will probably be removing one of the servers (LA or NJ) and keep the server in Germany.

We'd like to hear your thoughts on this move.

Rare if I go back to BF4  now, so makes no difference to me for hosting.

Just hope we can get a BF1  going soon.

Any word on BF1 servers?

I only play BF4 when an evga event is up. Ping doesn't matter to me any longer. Most of the last event I just played with Brazil.

The official word from EA/DiCE is still "More details to come". We'll know more whenever they publicly release more.

The servers evga had with NFO before was 2x managed full machines, one in Chicago and one in Texas. The community had better performance from Chicago location for BF3/BF4. I remember both locations get hit with DDOS attacks from time to time.

Price on full managed machines have dropped in the past 2 years.

(Same full machine evga had in 2013)
E3-1270:  Solid Sandy Bridge-based machine
  •     Intel Xeon E3-1270 processor (four physical 3.4ghz cores on QPI + hyperthreading + turbo->3.8ghz)
  •     16 GB DDR3-1333 ECC memory
  •     1000 GB, 7200 RPM SATA hard drive
  •     30000 GB of bandwidth transfer
  •     Able to host around 250-300 connected players at once

Price before: $200
Price now: $130

As BizSAR said, nothing yet. I do not see any issue with EVGA renting on for fun but if there's no way to track stats, specifically playtime, then it will not be used for events.

We are trying to have multiple locations available to provide a better gaming experience depending on where the player is located. The issue with having a single dedicated machine for games is if that box or network goes down then all the games go down.

I concur on NFO Chicago.

I had a 64-slot at the same data center and feel it is a good compromise. Yes, it gets its fair share of Blaze disconnects and direct and downstream DDOS strikes, but bad things happen to ALL populated servers.
