Everyone need to do the thermal pad fix. There is no questioning this at this point.

60% of fan, 55 degres with BF1, dont need pads

You cant read the temps of the VRAM or VRMs. Your GPU temps are irrelevant.

I know but lower the temps of the gpu are, lower the VRM will be, I think it's logic...
the 106 degres tomshardware test was with a 75 degres gpu if I remember well, I know I can make conclusion with that but I'm sure I can have 50 degres between gpu and vrm...

Lol, thats not how it works lol

This is not so, there have been a few tests, but this link in particular: http://imgur.com/a/D268D

shows the correlation between fan% core temp and VRM temp. despite whether we think it's a good fix or not, simply upping the fan% with the bios fix does lower VRM temps (if at the detriment to acoustics).

Of interest to me is the 5th image running under Furmark. Whilst i do not use it, i do see those temps and fan% and power target as high as 90%. So assuming a rough estimation of +15°C when I'm running at 82°C core, VRM could be ~97°C with those 3 memory modules not far behind at all :-s

As a bonus, I got lucky and my card was brand new sealed in box.  It seems to either overclock the same or slightly better, I'm not sure yet.

Awesome! The retail packaging and the whole shebang? If so, what exactly would you be sending back? Would it be your old card + box papers or just the old card?

Got back full retail box and accessories(wire adapters, poster, stickers etc)

I still had my original box in the closet so I put the old card in there and repacked it in the box they sent the replacement in.

When I see that, it makes me thing i'm not wrong at all...

Your're not. Regardless of how well (or not for the acx 3.0 :-p) the cooler works, all items - core, VRAM, VRM etc. are cooled to some degree, just at different ratios. As per the link, playing BF1 with 90% fan and 55% TDP , VRM was 8°C hotter than core (53°C). Furmark 90% fan and 100% TDP, VRM is 17°C hotter than core (71°C)

55% TDP, VRM is approx 115% core temp
100% TDP VRM is approx. 124% core temp

Makes sense I guess that the efficiency is dropping as VRM temp is increasing...

So with a GPU at 55 degres max...

Yes, shipping cards have new memory thermal pads as well.

Stick to Founder Edition 1080/1070 these cards have none of the issues I have read about in here. My card is silent, havent seen it go above 64C in any benchmark or intensive game!

WIf the gpu temps are not irrelevant then why the bios update to adjust the fan speed? Why just do the thurmal pads only and call it a day. That wold help people from complaining about double the noise.

quiet you, just because your card will reach the clocks of the FTW, not melt, be quieter and exhaust all hot air out the backplate...

doesn't have flashy lights no one can see does it?! :-D
