For all we know, it could be a means for NVIDIA to collect crash-reports that help it improve its drivers down the line. Not everyone is convinced with this explanation.

 
Better not use any software connected to the internet then.
 
Tin foil hats are definitely in this season.

This is a new development I think with the last driver or 2.  Prior to that I never saw these items in the task scheduler when not installing GFE.  In any case, for those of us who don't want it running everyday, it's a simple few clicks to stop these things.

You realize that more programs do this kind of stuff now. Steam polls hardware, Nvidia does that, and who knows what other programs have their own variant of this.
