It's been a LONG time since I been on the forum--few years ago I upgraded the rig and got an overclock of 4.5G with +50 offset. See BIOS settings attached to this thread.
 
Today, my rig started acting very weird. I was having a lot of issues getting it to boot up (it would take sometimes 3 minutes)--everything was very bizarre. I was getting errors that Samsung Magician couldn't communicate with my SSD.

I finally started at the beginning after spending an hour thinking my SSD was shot. I took BIOS to default and suddenly it worked. I put my profile back in--it did not. I proceeded to decrease my 45 until it would boot--that was at 42; it would boot with 50 offset. I recalled reading a thread and someone told me I may need K-BOOST at that offset. I never used it until now, I enabled it and my machine booted at 4.5GHz.
 
Any thoughts? I'm leaning towards the "CPU is on it's way out--it did it's best for several years but it's tired."
 
If you want to know any other settings let me know--I couldn't upload every screenshot.
 

Also, I am on bios 2.10--I did upgrade to 2.13 and it didn't work, so I backed out to known BIOS just in case that was issue--still wasn't.
 
I did try increasing offset up to as high as +100 and I still couldn't get it to stop throwing up that Windows 10 "Your PC has encountered an error" when trying to boot.

K-boost would allow you to boot using a lower offset than would otherwise be needed in some cases.  But since you also tried a +100 offset after a +50 used to work fine, that does seem like something else is going on.  Could be an SSD issue or the CPU is needing more vcore (at least at boot-up) after being in service to this point.

I was thinking that same thing--it was bizarre. I've not had any issues with K-BOOST on right now. I did test my SSD and it's still pumping out the appropriate speeds. I may look at the offset again, I thought I did +100 but I may of done +75.
 
It's weird tho--I monitor voltage when I am up and running; it doesn't exceed what I normally at.
 
I've done several benchmarks and tests to see if it's still stable.

If everything runs well using K-boost, I'd just use it.  What I always did when OC'ing on my Dark board was I would test without K-boost, and if I ran in to issue's that seemed to point to vcore, I'd then test again with K-boost enabled.
 
I recall members here back then saying (users of IB-E chips) that using K-boost helped using lower offsets while maintaining stability.  Those of us running SB-E chips, not so much...

I think I may upgrade the MB to 2.13 BIOS as well and reset with K-BOOST.
 
So far it's been great--no issues. I haven't been able to push it much this week, been swamped with work. Wife surely got some time out of it playing Sims 3 on it LOL.

Sounds like you're good to go with K-boost...
