I have a situation hopefully someone can help me with.  Just got the 1070 FTW DT, an upgrade to my old 680.  Problem is my PSU doesn't have the open 6 pin slots for the 8 pin to 6 pinx2 splitters.  I have open two 8 pin slots on my PSU but lack any additional modular cords.  Ive attempted to purchase two 8 pin to 8 pin cords on amazon, however the plug going into the psu has a little bridge connecting two prongs, making it unable to plug in.
 
Does anyone have any suggestion as to what modular cord i can purchase so i can plug this thing in?  I have a 6 year old corsair modular PSU that's about 6-8 inches from my PSU without any fancy hidden cosmetic wire work.
 
Any suggestions would help.  My plan was to upgrade the card then the entire PC in a year so i really don't want to get a new PSU right now.  I do not want to start randomly ordering cords hoping they all connect.
 
Someone please help me, any links to what i can buy what will connect my 1070 ftw dt to an 8 pin PSU slot would be much appreciated. I would think this would be an easy purchase tbh.
 
 
Really hoping i don't need to return the card and just wait until i rebuild the whole pc next year.  I cant even believe this is an issue considering ive replaced so many GPU's in my time...why is it so difficult to find the proper 8 pin to 8 pin cord?
 

getting the feeling ill be returning the card due to the inability to find the proper 8 pin to 8 pin cord =(
 
figures the problem id have would be rare and something no one can answer.
  maybe its a sign that my card was destined to catch fire and ruin my rig?

What is the Model Number of your Corsair Power Supply?
Most Power Supplies come with at least 2 Each 6+2 Pin PCIe Power Cables
Or 2 Cables with 2 Connectors one 6-Pin and one 6+2 Pin
You do not have to use the Y-Adaptor 2 6-Pin to one 8-Pin if you power supply has the above.
Note about 6-Pin +2-Pin Power Cables, you put the 2-Pin next to the 6-Pin to make one 8-Pin Connector.

Knowing what Corsair PSU model would be helpful if not essential..But there's adapters you might be able to use such as a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter..A 4-pin Molex to 8-pin adapter, or a SATA to 8-pin adapter along with the adapters that came with your 1070 FTW DT..If you don't have/can't find all the modular cables for your PSU and/or you don't have the connectors that can be used with the adapters, you're out of luck and you'd need to buy another PSU that has all the needed cables/connectors.

from what im gathering here...there is no way to connect the 8 pin slot on the card to the 8 pin slots on my psu?
 
maybe i can do some wire management to open up a 4th 6 pin slot so i can use the rinky dink extenders, which is what im trying to avoid since my case is zip tied and clean.  not sure if its possible to remove the one 6 pin slot being used that is preventing me from using the extensions.
 
really was hoping for a simple solution of ordering a couple 8 pin to 8 pin since i have the space on my psu. Not sure why ordering such a cord is so difficult.
 
oddly enough this is the first time in maybe 4 card upgrades that ive run into this problem, perhaps the days of easily swapping out cards is over?  seems like a silly way to lose a sale tbh, not including a couple cords and just putting two splitter extensions.
..or at least making the cord options something i can purchase....

Or just get a New Power Supply.

Model number would really help, sounds like (to me) that you are trying to connect a VGA connector to your PSU that is really a "accessory" connector on the PSU/ meant for SATA or Molex possibly a motherboard connection. Not for VGA, thus why any cable you purchase will not fit.
 
Do you have anything else that requires a VGA connection in your system? If it's modular it should have them and also came with the proper cables.

If you don't have the needed cables, you can search around for aftermarket Corsair cables/cable kits, there's some here and there, maybe even from Corsair..But cost effectiveness might dictate that another PSU would be the way to go instead..Post back again later with your PSU model when you have a chance..Pretty sure it would be better all the way around to just snag another/adequate PSU if needed rather returning the 1070.  

I briefly looked through the Corsair website, is your power supply semi-modular? one big cable with the 24 pin connector and 4 modular connectors? If that is the case then I believe (without knowing the model) the 4+4 cable to the motherboard is populating the connection you would need for the VGA 8 pin/ 6+2 connector. (pure speculation though) After looking through the Semi-modular currently offered PSUs

yeah I'm thinking you are right here.  just wasn't worth it this time around to try to upgrade my card prior to a new build
 
would suck to have to get an entire psu, considering my current one is good, and well over power...then have to rip out all the power cords and start over....at that point id be better off just rebuilding the entire computer.
 
its just crazy to think a silly wire is going to cause me not to upgrade.  I'm guessing the "game" here since cards are not drawing more and more power like in the past, requiring a psu upgrade, that the psu makers are making it so you cant find cords and have to upgrade just for a wire.
 
my PSU is a corsair hx750. I'm unsure where all the extra cords went its been about 6 years so...yeah..
