Actually this was Activision's fault, not Microsoft's.

MBP is correct. It was Activision's decision.

The title of this thread is a bit misleading. You can play with other people online, just not through cross-play (Store purchases and Steam purchases together).

Microsoft supports cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it.
