They're already doing that in part with their domination of the console market.

Except they lost nintendo and there were rumors all over the place for ps4 and next gen xbox. Plus those contracts are not huge financial gains its more like life support. AMD probably gets more money of ASUS sells a AMD gpu then if Sony sells a PS3 with both cpu and gpu. Console market money is in the game contracts and not with the console itself.

Nintendo isn't that meaningful of a player in the hardware market anymore. They're hard to take seriously. Yes, but Sony and Microsoft take the bath in the hardware $$$, not the OEM.

Rocking my i5 3570k and my cpu usage in game spikes up to 100% .  I think it'll be a worthwhile upgrade to one of these new cpu's.  Probably 7700k

AMD need to bring some competition..

It's very difficult when competing against Nvidia.        =)

Yeah, Nvidia is on fire right now...

People need to move on from the i5 to the i7 anyway.

Never gonna happen. Many hard headed i5 users that refuse to believe an i7 is needed now a days to fully push 1070/1080/Titan X at max potential. Cant wait to read the crying when the next cards hit and people build around an i5. Only to wonder why their cpus are maxing out @100% and cards not being pushed to full potential. Cannonlake is my next big cpu upgrade. It will certainly be an i7 as well. 4790k still killing it in the mean time.

Good points made there. They will be held back by their CPU, unless they get wise, and upgrade.
