I rang EVGA today as I installed the GPU easy enough, and the drivers went on fine but I noticed in control panel that the drivers SAID they were working fine and yet on the properties/events screen it said the following ...

somehow this relates to the Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller, but I do not know why. I have clean installed the drivers and am on windows 10 version 1607 so it isnt that I need to 'upgrade'.
 
Last night the card was at 90 degrees and the fan was at zero percent, seen with my own eyes and GPU-z.
 
Theres obviously something wrong with these cards but the EVGA support line guy was helpful today. He asked me to download the Precision Xoc mod from 
 
You can manually enable the fan and also automatically turn it on from there.
Its the only way to keep the fan going until the VBIOS is fixed or something.
It works well and has done all day.

No idea what the fan problem is, as I would expect the bios to spin up the fan long before 90 degrees -- without needing any software (Precision/etc) installed.

But I don't think the message in device manager is significant. Likely just something about how the Nvidia drivers are installed. The entry for my 1080FTW has the exact same message (with different hardware ID, of course). Checked my old machine (with 980ti), and it has that same "requires further installation" text. Everything (fans, performance, stability) working fine on both. I have also seen other posts on the Nvidia forum mentioning it exists, with no ill effects.

#1 Remove GPU fan shroud and make sure the GPU fan cable is fully seated and secure to the GPU PCB fan header.
 
#2 Make sure the card is fully seated to the MB. Make sure the PCI-E power cables are fully seated and secure at the PSU side & GPU side.
 
#3 Uninstall all monitoring software. (Precision, Afterburner, Speedfan, HWMonitor, etc.)
 
#4 Perform a clean installation of the most recent video drivers:

• Uninstall Precision X/MSI Afterburner if installed, make sure to select "no" to saving profiles if asked.  Reboot the PC now if you had to uninstall PX or Afterburner.
• Use DDU (Display driver uninstaller) in safe mode to clean out all your nvidia drivers. Use the clean and restart (highly recommended) option.
• Download & save the most recent graphics driver to your desktop. You can find the most recent graphics driver here.
• Run the graphics installer located on your desktop once the download is complete.
• Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except graphics driver & physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.

If you're still having problems after performing steps 1-4 RMA the card as the fan controller on the GPU has a problem. Ignore the events listed inside the device manager as they are 9 months old.

I have the same logs. My cards are working just fine.
