Hello, I was wondering if the DG 86 top cover had some sort of way to correctly put it back in or if there's a defect with mine.
 
I removed mine to install my AIO cpu cooler but upon putting it back on I now get a tiny gap on the front part (io side). I have tried removing it and putting it back quite a few times and it always gets a small gap like I would say 1mm. It's not affecting the cover it since it looks like the top cover locks in correctly but it's just a visual imperfection upon inspection.
So I was wondering if there's a trick to making it all go in. I have tried pushing it down on that side in but it always pops up.  I'm going to post a picture in a bit when I get back home, just something that has been bugging me since I got the case 3 days ago.
 
Also, jesus was it hard to take it off the first time.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure. It was a pain for me too to take off the first time and the restart button on the top sometimes gets stuck because it's not fully lined up. I just deal with it but it's kinda annoying sometimes.
 
Same thing with the back panel for mine (where the HDD/SSD's go). I have to push it into place after putting the panel on.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with the top restart button. But I don't mind it since I'm using the side buttons instead but the thing that bugs me is the little bump that looks like the cover is coming off but it's locked down.
 

 

Its definitely something they should have looked closer at when designing and prototyping.
Should have made the top panel come off and be put back on the same way as the front(right side) panel.
Maybe try taking the top off again, and start putting it back on starting with the area you have problems with fit.
 
I had this problem when i had the aio cpu cooler rad above the frame.  the cover made contact with the rad just enough to miss align the cover by the top buttons.

I tried doing that, always wouldn't go in right.
I also though it might have been aio blocking it but I actually have the rad below the frame.
So I'm guessing this is happening to most cases?

Its happened on a few cases.. you can start an RMA, if you think that its not built correctly.
There have been a few people who have RMA'd already.  Specifically for fit and finish.
It really depends on how you feel about it...  I would have liked EVGA to go all out high end on this case.
My thought is.. we want peeps to buy a great case.. then make it great.. dont cut corners..   Go BIG, or go home.
 
Overall i like the case, but there is definite room for improvement.   Heres to Gen 2 !

In the end I used brute force to get the top off to replace the stock fans, when I went to put it back on I realised I had bent one of the black split pins that secures it into place, luckily and I presume by design as they had issue maybe in alpha and beta testings, the pins are secured by tiny crosshead screws. So I removed the one that I bent. It was in the middle section so didn't affect the aesthetics when I finally got the thing back on.
 
If yours isn't sitting right maybe you have also bent one of the plastic split pins and one half is in the securing hole on the main chassis and the other half is bent forcing the cover to not sit correctly.
 
I hate to say it but it maybe time to remove it again and check the pins, and if necessary remove it so that it sits flush.
