I figured it out!
 
I just finished installing my hybrid kit.
 
If you look on the back of the back plate, there are several of these foam "dots". This pad is meant to have the foam dots 'break away' and use as extras in case any of the 'dots' fell off of the back plate. They give extra clearance for the back plate and the back of the video card so it doesn't short it out. They are nothing but spacers, and if they didn't fall off of your backplate (mine didn't), then you are fine.
 
Case closed fellas! We did it.

Support doesn't agree.  Here's my last email from them:
 
"It is foam rubber use to help as a spacer to be put near the cooling block in between the tubes as you should be able to see the half moon cut outs on each side. Witch can also be used to guide the wire out as well. This piece is theoretically optional and not vital to the installation."

Dude, I'm telling you what they are. If you don't believe me, take off the backplate of the video card and compare the dots to the ones that are already on the underside of the back plate. It's an optional part if your foam dots on the underside of the backplate aren't missing. If you aren't going to listen to people who are going out of their way to help you, then that's fine, best of luck to you.

I am about to install my Hybrid kit on my FTW and I have a question about the rad fan connection.
 
I see that the wire leads from the pump and it is a 2 pin connector. Does this mean there will be no control over the fan speed on the rad fan if I were to use this connector?
If I change out the rad fan, which I am planning to do, and replace it with a 4 pin PWM fan, what do I do with that lead wire coming from the pump as I would then  need to connect my new rad fan to the MB.
Can I just wrap it around the tubes and leave it unconnected?
 
2, The sink fan and pump are on the same power connector, 4 pin. Do I have control over the speed of that fan/pump?
 
3. Also,cananyone confirm  the thickness of the thermalpad on the heat sink please. Does it make good contact with the mosfets? I am replacing it with a 17w/mk variety and need to confirm thickness.

The stock fan has no way to control it. You can use a 4 pin PWM fan on your mobo to control the fan. That will work. You can then leave that 3 pin wire from the card disconnected. Just bundle it up and hide it the best you can. 
 
I upgraded to a EK Vardar fan that is pretty quiet. It runs a full speed 24/7 and I can't hear it over the case fans. Depending how loud the rest of your system is, this might work for you too. The higher static pressure is a bonus as well.
 
You also can't control the pump speed. I may be wrong but I believe the pump runs at a static speed regardless. The only fan you can control on the card is the blower fan via MSI AB or EVGA Precision.

As I thought regarding the rad fan.
But in Precision/AB will the sinkfan/pump be recognized separately/indivdually? As they are both on the same power connector, playing with speed control in those would effect the pump as well as the fan would it not?
