After going through the complete RMA process with my 1st card due to black screen/100% fan issue in September, I see from all over the web (reddit, guru3d, gamernexus....) that the card may burn/explode due to overheating VRMs.
 
Now after being afraid to get the black screen again (due to quality issues with one VRM supplier- was tough to get an explanation about the root cause by the way....),  I'm even MORE afraid to loose my whole config due to fire hazard.
 
When you buy a card 800 Euros, you should not go through all this, this is purely unacceptable. Now I hear that I need to update my bios, install thermal pads or go through another RMA process....
Before investing that amount of money I check the performance BUT also the dB from each custom board manufacturer. Now to have similar VRM cooling as competition, the card is much lounder (http://www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/2666-evga-heat-solution-thermal-imaging-of-vrm-1080-ftw) "perceived increase that is just shy of 2x to a listener". 
In fact the product is different to what was advertise and it is a big issue for me. The resale value of the card is also drastically reduced.
 
I do not plan to dismount my card to add the thermal pads, I do not want to update the bios to get a louder card and I don't want to pay again 700 Euro in advance to get a new RMA louder card. 
 
Best solution for me would be to get a total refund and go with another brand.

In my case the card was 33 days old. I am not entitled to a new card only a used refurbished card. I paid $1000 for a new card and now they are depreciating the value of my investment by at least 40%. Do they offer to compensate me for that loss  in value? No they don't. Do they offer to give me my money back? Of course not. I do not even qualify for the Advanced RMA because I don't have a credit card so I am waiting 4 weeks or more to get a refurbished card with less value back. If I try to sell the card I am not going to get even 50% of my investment back due to the press surrounding the card. NO ONE is going to want to buy a used FTW. And yet they expect me to accept it with their insulting apologies for the inconvenience but that is our policy BS! I will be seeing a lawyer today to see if I have a legal remedy to recoup my investment.

I'm upset too. My card value will be crap next to other cards.
I'll rethink about buying EVGA in the future. But for now, I'll apply the thermal mod (if shipped to Brazil), flash the bios and hope to last.

If you don't have problems, just ignore it and don't read too much bull**** around internet. I got card in August and never had a problem since. I don't use overclocking utility let alone furmark stress test to prove f. what?

It is depends how serious the problem..
If the problem is serious I don't believe Bios update or thermal pads can solve this issue.
It is possible that all heat sink should be redesigned by EVGA and it will cost a lot of money.
I expect from EVGA to provide information about how situation changed by updating bios and /or adding thermal pad. If the problem is solved by these steps it is ok from my side but if it just postponing the problem I think recall should be made. I don't think users should disassemble video card in home.
 

The card comes with a warranty so your covered if there's a problem in the future.

as one of the commenters already mentioned, I am too, angry that I paid full price for the GPU, and even tho the card runs fine, I lost a lot of resale value. This was my first nvidia card in almost 8 years and I went with the most praised nvidia brand only to be screwed over. I guess it could happen to everybody but I will not buy the next evga generation without waiting a considerable amount of time from the launch window.

3 year warranty is fully transferable to future purchaser. The 3 year warranty (guest rma) for secondary owner start from the day the card shipped from EVGA.

...do you have that in writing? because that might explain the exploding VRMs just as easily as the high temps. The combination of the 2 even more so.
