Well guys, I contacted my retailer and they said they would perform an exchange. So I just got an MSI 1070.

This doesn't mean I won't ever buy EVGA again, but it just seemed the right way to do this. At least for me.

I am very happy to hear that they switched out the card for you. Don't ever bpet anyone put you down for that, and I hope your card serves you very well.

Please, let us know how it goes?

Honestly, it performs just like the EVGA one. Still haven't compared temps and such, but the FTW's gpu did run cooler at idle.
They both virtually have the same boost clock, too.

I would probably be fine with the EVGA anyway but the fact I would never fully trust my card if I overclocked it (even after installing the thermal pads) just made me accept the switch.
The retailer was actually above and beyond expectations. My EVGA was a month old (usually retailers employ a 15 day return policy in my country) and they offered me either a full refund or switch for another brand.

I'm sure I will buy EVGA again, anyway. Even after those issues, the 1070 FTW is an amazing card.
Point is, even though EVGA messed up, they dealt with this pretty well and their customer support is great. I'm sure I won't have the same good experience if my MSI card ever lets me down. Just hope it doesn't.

I am very impressed with how this has been handled by EVGA so far. I had an ASUS ATI Radeon 5850 back when those were fast cards. First one I got had the wrong BIOS flashed to it! It had the 5870 BIOS flashed and it was running at higher clocks than advertised which sounds great but the card was slightly unstable. I ended up having to RMA through Newegg. It has been nice to see such a fast and responsible response from EVGA. Also the fact that they are standing by their warranty to an extreme is comforting. I myself would love to get an extra year thrown in just in case, but I think it would be asking too much unless EVGA just decided to offer it. Although in the future I hope they will make sure that the thermal solution for their cards are a bit overbuilt instead of being lax. Seems like the main target is always the GPU temperature itself, but the secondary components on the board can't be left out. They seem to use high quality capacitors etc. so why not go overboard on the cooling for all of those components. I imagine it is much more expensive to get a bunch of RMAs and higher failure rates than a few extra thermal pads, or even better a cooler design that is more specific to the PCB instead of just recycling old designs.

EVGA locked other thread of people talking about this issue.

Strange isn't it?

They redirected all of the previous posts over to the update post for the thermal mod and bios update.  I assume they were trying to reduce the speculation in the other threads, and push everyone to where they can provide updates without having 100 people ignoring the updates that are posted.  Since EVGA has that thread as a sticky and they are updating it, it will catch the proper attention before people run to the threads that were full of mostly speculation without any hard facts.

I completely disagree. The article I listed was what was happening around the world with the FTW, and the fact companies started "having their eye" on EVGA. The fact that Jacob provided an "update" was irrelevant to the article. applauds to EVGA for providing an update, but it doesnt stop the news for showing what's going on with other FTWs. So, there is an update for the FTW... Great. The article I listed was stating what people were experiencing with their FTWs and what temperatures they had. When something actually makes news, then you know it's pretty big. I don't see how that has any relevance to EVGA's "resolution" to fix the problem - 2 different topics sir. But let's just take bcavnaugh's word instead...

Is this an isolated issue with the FTW edition or should I be worried about my 1070 sc gaming card...

From what i read its the cards with the ACX 3.0 cooler design, so if your card number match any of the cards from this list from other thread you should update your vbios

15 minutes of him pouting because people criticize him?

I wish I could sit home and shill products on youtube for a living. I guess youtube is going to need safe spaces now.

He's right though. Youtube is a cesspit in the comments section.
TotalBiscuit just said screw it and closed the comment section.

It's the internet. Everyone else has to deal with it so should they. Wants to be a public figure, but can't handle criticism.

Snowflakes confirmed.

yea there is a really big difference between criticism and people that just live for trash talking and hate on other people.
Now lets take Jayztwocent, some like him and others dont. That is normal because i dont think that there are anyone on earth, that everyone like.
You will always have haters, no matter what you are doing in life. Even the haters have haters.

But what i dont understand is why this haters always keeps watching videos from people that they dont like, what do you get out of that ?
And then what is it that keeps them watching and writing bad and hatefull comments on people that trys to do there best in entertaining and informing
you about different products.
Is it so you can feel more powerfull than they are in real life, or is it the only way that they can get a boner ?

I think that there are an easy solution to all of this.
Haters just stop watching content from people you dont like or of products that you dont like, instead of letting all of your unimportant BS on other
peoples work.

I would pick jayztwcent over Linus any day, though. Linus, to me, comes off like he thinks he knows everything and everybody should listen only to Linus. Jayztwocents tries his best to put it "as is".

Well all have there own way to present the products they are reviewing, and again no one likes everbody like everyone isnt liked by all.
But yea Jayztwocent put it as it is and in his own way when he makes the videos, and Linus puts it more like a "business" way.
I dont have anything against any of the ways they do it or against any of them. But i feel like Jay's way is more free and open minded and straight
from his head, and Linus have the more "scripted" way to do it.
Both either way they both comes with great work, and should not have to read all that hate that the comments bring. Just because there is some
people out there that havent got all the attention that they wanted when they was kids.
Like Jay says in his video, he canceled the giveaway he was planing because of all those haters on the video that shows, and help people to get
there thermal pads on there GPU.
Think that its sad that those people have so much "power" on the internet, so they ruin it for everyone else. I just wonder what they will do
if all the "big" youtubers and tech reviewers just quitted, then they had to go outside and trash talk and hate on others IRL. Then maybe they
would get there a** kicked and maybe learn, to do to others what you want others to do to you.

But beside all that im for sure gonna use Jay's video on how to put the thermal pads on my gpu, when i get the pads that is. Im not
even worried about taking my gpu a part, even that its the first time i gonna do it. I have learned alot from watching his videos on different
hardware and cooling parts, so im looking forward to try it my self.

Look at those eyes.

LOL, I always wondered the same thing... That dude always looks baked! Hahaha

Watch his new video posted a couple of hours ago. He actually says exactly what causes that, lol. I won't link it, because he is fairly angry and drops a lot of vulgar language.

Yea, Jay is cool... I just so that vid last night.

EVGA is cool, Jay is cool -- 'Nough said!
