you bring up some interesting discussion points.....
I have been buying EVGA long enough to remember their long-term solid lifetime warranty. And I am ok with them shortening it because as you say....all companies have had to scale back their warranties in this economy.
But EVGA should really consider upping their warranty because of this issue again....at least temporarily. To display and ensure confidence that they are still the company that the gamer community can rely on and trust.
I know it's probably easy to dismiss a thread like this as customers looking for extra perks for no good reason.
But with concern to at least myself.... I can contest that's not true. Instead I thinking we're looking for appreciation and confidence about being long term customers.
I also know that in order to offer an extended warranty.... EVGA would have to look at things like cost benefit analysis and profit margins. But IMO even if they had to take a loss in profit.... they would still eventually make up for it in the future with repeat customers.
Like in my for mentioned comments... EVGA used to have a better warranty and to be honest in my recent dealings with them.... they felt like a different company back then.
Their customer service was Top Notch, knowledgeable, and they would go out of their way to serve their customer base.
In my calls recently in particular about thevery overheating issue... I had to contact their customer service 4 times just to get my information correct on my acvount. Finally after all that... someone was able to help me.
But even in that last call... i was promised by the customer service rep....that I would receive a call back that day about a still open issue. It's now been 4 days later and i have still not heard back. The old customer service for EVGA would never have let that happen. I would have had no problem taking care of my issies in short order and on the first call.
I know having amazing customer service like i decribed is very expensive... But as I'm sure you can tell with this post and many others... People are willing to pay the premium price for their product just to have this solid clad service and warranty.
All I can say is... Come on EVGA! do right by us...and let's extend this warranty!
