I don't have BF1 right now, but I could run the following...
Metro 2033 and 2034
GTA V
BF4
Unigine Valley or Heaven
Batman City / Origins
3Dmark

These should give us real world results. Agreed?

Metro 2033/ GTA V / BF4 / Batman City but with DSR.
Really dont care about benchmarks.

Dont forget to put vsync off and ULTRA Mode. Can you do that with the new bios ?
In fact all the test without pads, It's fine for me ;)

Dont care about the test with pads, we will have a lot of this on internet soon...
But I really care about test without pads ;) can you try "without pads + 60% fan curve also" ?

That would be no issue... I could do that. Because as it stands right now... my GTX 1070 FTW card only has the fan curve BIOS update installed. No other mods have been done to it.
Obviously the testing would not give information on the 1080 cards (Because I don't have access to the FTW edition) However, if the test fails on the 1070 FTW, one could assume the test would fail on the 1080's too.
I should also add, I won't be able to run this test until next week since I don't carry my PC with me every where I go and don't have it with me at the moment. But I do want to stress...I hope the results are positive and the whole point of me doing this test is for peace of mind.

How are you going to measure the VRM/VRAM temps? I know GameNexus did this and the BIOS dropped it by 14C (to 90Cish which is well within spec) and then the pads dropped it to 80C.

So all the BS that we are in.. this is because of this benchmark who nobody cares ?

I think so for the most part, you could also use a blow torch and see how long it takes to melt down.
It is a Tool to run to see how long it takes to reach your Cards Breaking Point.

Manuel Guzman Posted 02/28/2011 07:25 PM
Furmark is an application designed to stress the GPU by maximizing power draw well beyond any real world application or game. In some cases, this could lead to slowdown of the graphics card due to hitting over-temperature or over-current protection mechanisms. These protection mechanisms are designed to ensure the safe operation of the graphics card. Using Furmark or other applications to disable these protection mechanisms can result in permanent damage to the graphics card and void the manufacturer's warranty.

just want to clarify when you say test without pads you are referring to the thermal mod pads not the stock pads that are already supplied correct?
I feel that benchmarks at stocks speed are still applicable and I will still run them only because some people run those benchmarks just to get a gauge of their PC's performance regardless of overclock

Ya leave the stock pads during your tests

I usually don't get involved in these types of requests/posts.... And while I am ok (to a point) with how evga is handling the issue up till now... i must admit... if EVGA offered an extended warranty on the sc/ftw cards for free.... it would put my mind at ease for future purchases too.

The damage has been done. I fully expect to take a bath on this thing when I resell it. While there is a 'fix', it is far from pretty from an engineering standpoint. It's hodge podge on a GPU many of us paid a premium for and it will hurt resale value.

Yeah, I think it would be a very good business decision at this point to piggyback off of their remaining good customer service reputation and go ahead and just up their warranty on all their cards as a means to limit the damage in the future. You see it mentioned all the time; "Despite their CS reputation, why would I buy another?"

Become the company that is still known for their CS, and back it by being a market leader in warranty, and make it transferable.  They have all have scaled back their warranty periods and this would be an easy win after a tough PR fall. I really don't see any other way to make people feel good about buying an EVGA GPU in the future. The PC community is still going on about the 970 with its partitioned 4GB of vram. And for that matter, they are still going on about EVGA's perceived cooling designs in previous generations.

I hope this thread gets some traction. There is a serious discussion to be had about this from logical and loyal consumers of EVGA products, who are not looking to simply beat a dead horse or kick a guy when he is down. I purchased this over the $10 cheaper Gigabyte, because it was EVGA. I want to support a US based company that offers quick RMA service should I ever have a problem. This should not be allowed to become another PCMR meme, and damage control has been sub-par. Will remain so until they address their reputation.

For me I'm, indeed, talking about a 1070 stock card with the vbios...
Dont touch anything to the card in itself, I think we all agree on this :)

Cant wait for the results, I'm sure it will be good... in fact I think the only litte issue is for those who want to keep the original fan curve...

you bring up some interesting discussion points.....

I have been buying EVGA long enough to remember their long-term solid lifetime warranty. And I am ok with them shortening it because as you say....all companies have had to scale back their warranties in this economy.
But EVGA should really consider upping their warranty because of this issue again....at least temporarily. To display and ensure confidence that they are still the company that the gamer community can rely on and trust.

I know it's probably easy to dismiss a thread like this as customers looking for extra perks for no good reason.
But with concern to at least myself.... I can contest that's not true. Instead I thinking we're looking for appreciation and confidence about being long term customers.
I also know that in order to offer an extended warranty.... EVGA would have to look at things like cost benefit analysis and profit margins. But IMO even if they had to take a loss in profit.... they would still eventually make up for it in the future with repeat customers.

Like in my for mentioned comments... EVGA used to have a better warranty and to be honest in my recent dealings with them.... they felt like a different company back then.
Their customer service was Top Notch, knowledgeable, and they would go out of their way to serve their customer base.
In my calls recently in particular about thevery overheating issue... I had to contact their customer service 4 times just to get my information correct on my acvount. Finally after all that... someone was able to help me.
But even in that last call... i was promised by the customer service rep....that I would receive a call back that day about a still open issue. It's now been 4 days later and i have still not heard back. The old customer service for EVGA would never have let that happen. I would have had no problem taking care of my issies in short order and on the first call.

I know having amazing customer service like i decribed is very expensive... But as I'm sure you can tell with this post and many others... People are willing to pay the premium price for their product just to have this solid clad service and warranty.

All I can say is... Come on EVGA! do right by us...and let's extend this warranty!
