Lets get one thing straight here. Everyone needs to do the thermal pad fix. All the new BIOS does is increase the fan speed (and noise) of the card, it does NOT fix the issue of having a incorrectly engineered cooler and it is certainly not enough to cool the VRMs to acceptable levels.

Another thing is that I didn't really want to have to take the card apart.

I mean I won't mind to try but I don't want to mess anything up. Again just the part of not wanting to worry about these things with my purchase.

As evga and even gamer nexus who is independently researching the issue have already stated the cards are well within specs. Please stop pushing this misconception.

Multiple independent sites have already covered this as well, as they interpret the two above sources above.

Tell that to all the users who are experiencing crashes, artifacts and even having the VRMs catch fire....the symptoms and results of VRM overheating on theses cards are WELL documented at this point..

Hi pawelblyskal,

I am sorry for any confusion, but I can confirm that the GTX 1080 FTW black screen crashes were a different issue and that has since been resolved.   http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2530081

I can also confirm that the EVGA GTX 1060/1070/1080 ACX 3.0 lines of cards are running within spec, but warmer than preferred.  We will be offering a VBIOS update to help with the card running warmer, that will be recommended.

However the thermal pad mod is available for anyone that wants lower temperatures, but is optional.  Please read our official response at: http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/.

A simple manual fan curve in afterburner or evga precision is ok too instead of changing the VBIOS ?

I've never used precision or that other program, is that going to be simple to use and I assume change fan speeds?

As I said before, tell it to all the users who's cards are burning up....
