I bought the EVGA GTX 1070 SC Gaming ACX 3.0 yesterday afternoon.

Card 08G-P4-6173-KR

It shipped last night and just arrived actually a couple minutes ago according to the tracking (not home so I can't do anything right now). I got really worried when I just found out and read about the heating issue with some of these cards and I was wondering does it 100% effect my card? Do I need to do that VBIOS install? It says on the thermalpad page that it will already be installed to cards shipped after 11/1/16. Mine shipped on 11/1/16 so I'm assuming I'll need to do it? Do I also need the thermal pads?

I don't want an issue with my new purchase, and I don't want to have to worry about things like this, but I just want to know exactly what to do before I make a decision on keeping it.

Ive been trying to read up myself to make figure out what to do so apologies if this is a repeat thread, but I want to ask specifically for myself.

If you look at the card you will easily be able to see the thermal pads if they are installed. The VBIOS probably hasn't been installed just yet, because EVGA still has to get it approved by Nvidia.

For the update on the VBIOS, you simply download it and open the file. The rest is completed by the program that evga sends out.

That hasn't been sent out yet right? The VBIOS update?

Edit I'm assuming no since you said it needs to be approved

Also does that problem include my card? I read somewhere it does and another that said it doesn't so I just want to have a clear understanding.

Yes, all ACX cards are included. You can easily use evga precision x or MSI Afterburner to adjust the fans without the bios. The bios will just set the fans higher automatically so that you don't need additional software on your system.

Okay thanks. Do you know if I should even install the card yet then? Since the VBIOS update is I believe not out yet. I don't want to have any random problems

What you could/should do for now is set your fan curve to aggressive in EVGA's Precision X program and avoid any overclocking until everything is officially squared away.

Or if you are in an OK situation to wait a bit for the official solution to be available, that is a good option as well.

I would install the card personally. If there is any issues, you can get supported started sooner than later.

I don't think you will have any issues honestly.
