What 's your advice to avoid unpleasent surprises, i already made a request for thermal pad.

Well it's up to you really, i can't advise you on that. What i can do in the other hand, is telling you what i will do (am doing), i will not temper in any way with my asset, it's EVGA work, not mine (not at this price point), the Bios'es and Pads are just Fairy dust to me, I'm waiting my ticket...to get a proper answer then RMA it to get a Properly fixed or not plagued (up to them), Brand new card, my last resort will be a simple Refund.

I totally agree, bios update is fine but for such a premium card i should not have to take it appart and do what they ask us to do even if they claim its optional.
All the videos i seen shows that the thermal pads make a huge difference keeping the heat down and without the fan going extremly loud. The whole point when i selected this card was the quiet fans. Now with this bios it can go up to 2200rpm which is crazy. Normally i goes to 1600RPM and with the pads it will be around 86 degree which is totally fine.
Hopefully my RMA will also be approved so i can swap this for a new card with the thermal pads. Otherwise its going back to the shop.

You do realize there won't be thermal pads, right?  All they'll do is flash the BIOS (30 seconds of effort) and send you back a refurb.  But if that's what you want, go for it.

You sure seem to be doing alot of fearmongering along the course of this thread. I mean I understand your frustration but RMA'ing your card is not going to get you a magical fix that noone else is getting who chooses to flash the BIOS and install the thermal pads. You will get the same thing they have, just likely done for you. And thats ok too, nothing wrong with that. But bashing the company for their approach to the situation while they are just going to give you the same approach in the RMA process is ludicrous and irrational. The outcome is the same either way, except you don't have to do the work.

Well, he didn't say "I did run this exe as admin" so... Anyway... I've had the same issue with my card and Windows 10, I mean, even with the correct bios so I think my advice can be usefull not only to him but to the others too.

He did say that.. anyway...

The instructions do not say that we should run the update as admin, they say "double click update.exe". I think it is best to follow the instructions.

Don't waste your effort - he's set on being an unreasonable and throwing a tantrum.  I've waited for him to calm down and act rationally but that's obviously not happening.

It's pretty simple.  If you don't run benchmarks for hours, you're fine.  If you want to have peace of mind,  flash the BIOS for your card in the first post (follow the instructions) which will increase the fan speed.  Then go back to enjoying your system.

Even my 7 year old daughter doesn't have 3 day tantrums.....it's more of a negative cry for attention. "Look at me mad I'm mad!" or "Look what I can do!" <----Stewart reference from MADTV.
