I just updated my 1080 SC, no problems.  No additional fan noise at idle. Personally im happier its in a firmware update rather than having to crank up the fan through precision, I dont want to have to think about it.

New VBIOS applied to my GTX 1070 SC.
Fan curve was WAY lower than my custom curve - stock was at 25% or so at 65C-ish, I was like "forget that", flipped on my custom curve and the fans went up to 90%. So yeh, no major noise increase. Good news. I'll stick with my super aggressive keep-it-below-60 fan curve that never goes below 25% which is still practically silent. ACX3 is still quiet.
 
Website says my pads are "awaiting shipment". Would be nice if they shipped my powerlink with it!

Is it me or is this a lame fix. We were sold a card that was advertised with low temps and low noise now we run this new vbios and lose performance that we paid for, I call shenanigans and request a refund on basis of false claims who is with me ✊

My thermal pads request also changed to "Awaiting Shipment".

I was playing battlefield 1 with the normal fan curve an my GPU temps were reaching 80c and my PC was feeling Very hot on top.  When I put the fan curve to Aggressive it drops down to 69-70c and my PC case does not feel as hot.
 
 Without the fan on aggressive my pc case is heating up alot.

Not sure if you are serious with your test...db meter on the phone really?
Here a more accurate and professional version: which show 47db and yes it's loud for such a marginal temp improvement VRM/VRAM wise (pads fairy dust installed! Also November is not known as the hottest month...).

LOL.  Dude, if you want to take everything super serious, feel free.  This video was so people could hear the cooler rather than read a number that was put up.  Noone cares about the phone decibel meter, it was just for some for of reference. I don't have 5 grand to spend on studio equipment, or sponsors to give me studio equipment so that you all can hear what the card sounds like. 
 
If the video doesn't help you, so be it.  Trying to bash someone because they did something for the community gets you nowhere.
 
also, to embed a video, just use tube, not youtube.

If my ticket doesn't go as i specified (which is not much really, asking for a cross shipping with 0 cost - exchanged with a FIXED Brand new card and no fairy dust in it), for now i'm waiting...eating the few bits of patience i have left, i sure will request, force if needed, a full refund.

I misunderstood, and I apologize.  There is a lot of tension with everyone right now, and I really just want to help out however I can.  I am kind of tired of seeing the forums right now, lol.
 
BTW, if anyone is looking to donate any sound equipment, I will gladly put it to use :-) lol.

I should mention:

When I ran the updater, it changed my resolution in such a manner that most of the application's window was off-screen (off the left and upper edge of the monitor). Fortunately, I could see the right-hand side of the appl and text that I should press 'a' to abort, so I did. Ran the updater a second time at the lower resolution, everything was visible. Update ran fine.
 
I did not run the updater as administrator as has been suggested elsewhere in this thread. The instructions did not say to do so, so I followed them.
