Did anyone noticed that there are 2 different thermal pad application guide?
When you click on the link provided in the 2nd message from your cell, the guide is quite different than what we see in evga's statement. The one on the phone is more extensive with 5 more steps and it has 3 more thermal pads called VRM pads.
I think it asks you to replace VRM pads which are already in place as far as I understand from steps.
EVGA,
what are you trying to do??
[....]
I think you're actually misreading VRAM as VRM, as in replacing the thermal pads over the memory, which is something we've been including in our Thermal Mod kits that we ship to customers. Only the first shipment, generally, went out before we began including the VRAM pads with all Thermal Mod kits.
We actually have several versions of the Thermal Mod guide, largely depending on when we completed the guide and which cards the guide is created for. If you've been following this process from the beginning, then you'll know that we originally only offered thermal pads and thermal paste to customers that requested the kits. Soon after, we began adding the VRAM pads to the kits, which required a new guide. There is also a guide for GTX 1060s, which is different than the one you posted, due to a slightly different type of installation.
However, I'll follow up with our web team during this week to update the site to include current versions of the guides for each set of cards, but it will be a short week for us here in Brea, due to the upcoming holiday.
Hi,
Thanks for response. I also noticed thermal pad size thread, which is a very good call. Everybody was asking information in the pages and it had started being frustration. One thing is still missing:
thermal conductivity coefficient of your tested products (in gamersnexus). People need to now what sort of performance they will get when they order their pads from a 3rd party brand.
Yes, at first glance I misread VRM and VRAM (sorry it was night and I was about to go to bed when I noticed this guide in my cell.)
I also couldn't check forum everyday. I noticed this thread when it was on 23rd page. Then I looked at it (around page 59?) after noticing new guide with VRAM stuff because I was fed up with "awaiting shipment" statement after 2 weeks and ordered my pads individually.
One question: Do you have FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) list? Can we trust EVGA's design department with ACX 4.0 once more?
Have a nice holiday,
