Are you asking if you need to remove the old thermal paste and put new thermal paste on when you install the thermal pads? You don't have to but they recommend that you do as it states in the instructions..

how long does it normally take to update the bios?? it's been 10min and im still getting black screen.

It takes about 20 seconds to update the bios. You have picked the wrong bios. Be carefull to pick the right bios for your card (Primary or Secondary for cards with 2 bios) . There are different numbers like 6727 KR (GTX 1070 FTW) If you pick the wrong bios your screen will go black and maybe your card will be broken . If you don't know how to update or don't know which bios to choose, send your card to EVGA and get a new card with updated bios and thermo pad. You should read the posts about what to do if you run into problems.

Be patient, it could take a while recieving the thermo pad. And you will get thermal paste as well in the package. I think you should expect 2-3 weeks for delivery.

So I got my Thermal Mod today and installed it. Obviously it didn't come with the memory pads since mine shipped before that debacle.

HOWEVER, I checked as best as I could and the memory pads seemed to be hitting the chips. I didn't open it to completely check but there were no gaps that I could see. Brandon shipped me the pads for memory today. I'll check it again when I get them.

As for the mod install, the fan wire that sits at the end of the device is impossible to get off. I almost broke the clip trying. I gave up and just did the mod without disconnecting it. Seriously be careful doing this. The side fan connector was easy to remove however.

Temps are, the same on the core so that means I did it right I think. Time will tell.
