Is there any official info about what customers with backplate-less ACX 3.0 cards should do? I've got a 1070 SC Black Edition.

<Not an official, but I think the back plate (without thermal pads) is one of two issues causing the heat.

That's kinda what I was hoping. My card sits in the path of 2 Noctua Industrial 140mm fans so the back of the PCB gets a lot of air circulation. Plus I work too much and only get to game like an hour a day if I'm lucky so I doubt I'll be cooking anything

I started a thread showing the hottest spot on the back of my SC Black 1070 (no back plate) at 84C when running Furmark with the new BIOS. There is another thread where someone used FLIR on the same card and was also in the 80's. I would consider the new BIOS or at least a custom fan curve though. I think the original BIOS kept the non-back-plate cards "in spec" but let them get unnecessarily hot in the name of a "quiet card".

Yeah I plan on doing the bios update shortly and applying the front thermal pads when they come in.

I live in Rio de Janeiro. In the summer we got 40..45ºc. How can i calm down when i read that EVGA Furmark Test was running on 30ºc and called "extreame" temperatures? Do i have a problem? (ironic)

I got an email for the AMD update today. Sent request a few days ago. It didn't work for me though. Had to plug card into an old Intel system to update it

40-45C is your outdoor temperature. As long as you aren't running it outdoors then those temps aren't your ambient.

Not everyone has air conditioning...it may be even hotter inside.

Thats for the person who asked to answer. I based my statement on actual research such as https: //www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g303506-s208/Rio-De-Janeiro:Brazil:Weather.And.When.To.Go.html Don't assume im just being ignorant.

EDIT: Since someone seems to have a problem understanding simple statements. If any user has no AC and indeed they intended to say their indoor temp was 40-45C on average then yes they should be worried. Quite frankly id be worried about any thermally sensitive device of my own under such conditions. Perhaps those who like to pester and interject someones attempt to help can move along now.

Hello.
08G-P4-5173-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 Black Edition - Primary BIOS (86.04.50.00.72)
I have a problem... Card and fans are ok on windows 10 x64 and 175.70 drivers, on the office. i work on different software, lightroom, word / outlook / no problem.
But if :
- I lunch Battlefield 3 ; fans go to the max speed !!! I stop the game, fans dont stop, they are to the max. I control temp ; 28° with speccy. I say ; oh what that, speccy i lunch GPU monitoring widget : 28/29° but 0rpm for fans indicate. What ? 0rpm ? i stop this widget, i download EVGA PrecisionX ; its on auto for fans, i remove auto, and select 0% ; fans are always on max speed. I select 50% , fans are always at 100 % !!!
I say what that, i shut down my computer. And relunch it ; fans are now ok.
After that, i say, maybe it was a little problem ? I want test again. I lunch again Battlefield 3 for 15s ingame and exit ; fans go to the max speed !!! fans dont stop, they are to the max. I control temp, she down 50°, 40°, 30° ok... but fans are on max speed again ; I control again with GPU monitoring widget : 30° but 0rpm for fans indicate. i stop this widget, i download MSI afterburner and look the monitoring ; 0% fans. My fans work on max speed. I move on manualy and setting 50% ; but fans are always on the max speed. I uninstall MSI afterburner.
i shut down again my computer. And relunch it ; fans are again now after this reboot.
I am on the office, fans speed is ok, its the silence. I lunch EVGA PrecisionX ; and remove auto Fan speed on the left. Fans speed of the card move on to the max speed !!! I select 0%, 50% and apply, but fans speed dont apply that and work to the max. Now i write you to know what the is that ? I need reboot my computer to have silence ! The problem come from your new Bios ? Or its the card need go back to EVGA to be inspected / setting / repear ?

EDIT ; i test with lunch of AIDA64 Extrem , i lunch EVGA PrecisionX, and select manual speed fan to 40%, fans speed go to the max and AIDA64 Extrem indicate 0RPM (0%)

Hello im kinda new on this forums, i own an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (08G-P4-6286-KR) and im really upset with evga tech support performance, while i was trying to update my Bios card and i couldnt because i own an AMD MOBO, i contacted EVGA Support and after 2 or 3 days they just reply something that does not help at all.
"
1) Disable graphics card driver in Device Manager.
2) Reboot PC.
3) Execute update.exe.
4) Press "y" for yes.
5) Enable graphics card driver in Device Manager.
6) Reboot PC."
After trying that im still unable to update my bios so my questions are. Why the tech support is so slow? Why AMD Mobo keep getting left apart? Where is coming out the NO VENDOR Fix that EVGA knows about it since the release of the graphic cards? AND WHY WE MUST BE BEGGING FOR HELP ANY TIME YOU GET SOMETHING WRONG? Thats not right. For example speaking of the NO VENDOR PROBLEM If you have a problem with your graphic cards then dont make features of the precission X only for EVGA cards users because the peoples that uses AMD and bought an EVGA graphic card are left out.  So im not asking for a favor, im not asking for free money, im just asking is for a decent support for what i bought.
