Before I even begin, I am not bashing EVGA for a problem, simply asking a question about how the fix is progressing.  I've used EVGA cards for the past 8 years and never had an issue, so I'm looking at purchasing a 1070 FTW in the coming months, likely sometime early 2017 when tax money is in so I can build my entire new system.  I know currently you can get free thermal pads to install yourself, I'm just curious if EVGA will be changing the manufacturing a bit to start installing these at the factory or what the plan is.  As far as I can tell the overheating issues are kind of spotty, so it doesn't seem to be necessary to start thinking about a recall or anything that drastic.  Cheers, thanks for having me as part of the community.

There are no overheating issues with any of our 1070/1080 cards and any "issues" reported are not related to one another. The reports that have been coming out are completely false and I can assure you that our cards run within spec as stated by our Product Manager Jacob. The thermal pads that are being offered by us are completely optional and without them the cards run within spec.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification.  I apologize if the tone came across as accusatory or anything, I'm just trying to find out information.

No need to apologize. Your concern is completely understandable. Have a great day!

I don't think we are worried about our cards possibly blowing up. We would just like to know if those significantly higher VRM operating temps, compared to other brands, will in any way affect our cards longevity.
This and why EVGA just skipped on thermal pads for the VRMs when every other vendor had them installed.

The temps are not significantly higher. They run well within normal spec temperature. The temps you are seeing from places like Tom's Hardware and other sites are from people running Furmark at extreme settings for a long period of time.

Sure, I didn't say they were running out of spec. But using the same methods, other vendors had significantly lower VRM temps. Except for Zotac, which was on par with EVGA (even a tiny bit higher, as a matter of fact), yet there haven't been any issues reported with Zotac VRMs. Which kinda makes me think.

One more thing I want to ask, how long will the free thermal pads be offered?  Since I'm not purchasing a card for at least 2 or 3 months obviously I'm not eligible to get them now, but I would like to have them when I do order.
