Brand new build. GTX 1070. I played Civ VI for 10 hours with no issues with the Civ VI gameready patch.

Upgraded to the latest gameready driver and Civ VI black/shuts off my computer, case fans on high, within 10 minutes tops.

I did a completely fresh install of Windows 10, installed previous known working gameready drivers. and Civ VI, issue persists.

Cranked furmark and got it to crash but it didn't result in the fan on full blast.

Monitoring on HWmonitor, temps seem... acceptable. Logged it and had Civ VI crash within 3 minutes.

EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0, 08G-P4-6173-KR, 8GD GDDR5
600 watt Corsair PSU (biggest I could find for miniITX)
I7-6800K CPU
32GB Ram
Samsung SSD 500GB
Windows 10 Pro 64x

Whats going on? I'm bummed. Worried that I don't have good cooling, enough wattage or a bad GPU.

Welcome to the Forum j4meswh
Go back to the Drivers that worked,  The HWmonitor Tool will cause you more issues then you think as well.
You Temps looks good, how stable is your CPU and Memory?

Thanks bcavnaugh,

I did a totally clean windows install and went back to the last known good drivers, but the issue persists.

Just tried debug mode and same thing. When I rebooted it crashed to black again from the desktop, so thats interesting.

CPU and Memory are stock, not OC at all. Is there something I can do to optimize timing or something?

Just updated BIOS, played Civ 6 without any monitoring apps, in debug mode, crashed to black this time no fan at full.

Much appreciated

Set your gpu fans to max before playing your game to see if it helps stop the black screen crash.

It is a problem with VRM cooling they are failing to admit to.  Get that thermal pad mod they are offering now and just cross your fingers it doesnt burn up like mine and many many others have.
