Well if that is the final say, that is totally fine then. I have just contacted Amazon and explained to them what is going on with the hardware and its eligibility and will be returning these cards and placing a new order from Amazon that originates from their warehouse. I hope i am not given any type of retaliatory treatment because i have been misled by Amazon.

There will be no retaliation at all. We are not pleased to have to turn down a Step Up by any means. Unfortunately we have to follow the terms to remain fair to everyone. Without being able to verify the invoice to our standards it is not possible to get the request approved.

I am glad to hear that Amazon is working with you on this issue. If you experience further hassle then PM me and I will see if there is anything we can do to assist you.

I sent you a PM

Game over

A perfect example of a lack of stock -and- a lack patience, leading to a very unwelcome and expensive result.
While do I feel sorry for the OP, there is no way for EVGA to be able to work with him. The chain of custody is quite clear in this case...
Originally sold by Newegg, bought DealsPro1 and the price was marked up and it was resold on Amazon.
-->Game completely Over as far as stepup is concerned

For those in a big hurry and buying for a future stepup, dont think the DETAILS do not really matter or you will end up like the OP

Your smartass response was not necessary. In this case I AM NOT LOSING ANYTHING because i am returning these cards and placing a new order. Unless EVGA finds a way to take retaliatory measures against me (illegally) because of a technical error in part of Amazon, then they would be in much trouble for discrimination.

My comment was simply a warning to others buying from Amazon

You are certainly not the first or the last to end up here on the forums with -real problems- from buying on the Amazon Marketplace.
You are quite lucky Amazon is letting you return the cards, as that is not always the case...

Man I here you on this one, I have NOT ordered from Amazon any EVGA Products because of this exact issue.
Even 3rd Party Sellers are Shipped and Marked Prime now and that is was is causing so many problems now.

Yeah, the constant programming changes to ordering behavior and really confusing priority sellers listings is appalling...
Its buyer beware for sure, I would not order expensive videocards without looking elsewhere first, its just too tricky

Even when you search on Amazon and select amazon.com as sold by they still put in 3rd party sellers in the search.
So you really have to be careful on any product you buy from Amazon anymore. Prime No Longer Means Prime.

Yep

It --is-- very nice to see Amazon accepting a return on the OP's cards...
-->but as a warning to others I dont think -anyone- should expect that kind of treatment, thats not how it usually goes down after so long.

If your buying only for a stepup... EVGA's website is really the only place to do so without having to worry about anything

Yes. Amazon is being very reasonable in this situation and it is great to hear.

Why did you not just buy the GTX 1080 Cards?

What did you not just buy the GTX 1080 Cards?

I was going to ask that as well. Purchasing the 1080 directly would give you a chance for a 90 step up with the 1080 if something like the 1080ti is released (not saying it will be). If you go with 980ti and step up, you can not use the Step up cards toward the next step up.

Because it has to be the same model/generation in order for Amazon to complete the return/exchange. Because they no longer carry the regular 980's sold by Amazon, they bumped me to the Ti, so then i Step up to a 1080 from there.
